I had my 175 running halfway decent, but now I've lost spark. It will occasionally spark, but its very weak (yellow), and it will only spark every 5 or 6 turns at best.
What do your points look like? Do they spark when the bike kicks over? If they do, you need a new condensor. A little sparking is ok, big juicy sparks = bad.

Check the point gap, they might not be closing all the way. They need to close to let the coils charge.

most 12 volt or 6 volt coils don't care what they're from, they all work the same. The condensers do have different values, so you do have to match them. Obviously the points need to be the correct ones for the bike, the mounting plate etc.
FWIW, my guess is your points are shot. If I win, do I get a beer?

if its a coil, it will probably worsen as it gets hotter. if its a stock plastic wrapped looking honda coil. look for a blob of wax leaing from it at the wire exit point and metal brackets you bolt them down with. when they leak, theyre shot.

it doesnt sound so much like a coil though. but look for the leaking wax. its a definite sign.

and if youre going to run stock coils, be sure to have a pair of backups at the track with you at all times. they crap out easily, especially if youre not running the regulators etc...

I have no idea how you diagnose that stuff, i look it up in the repair manual and follow their directions. When that doesn't work, I go buy new parts, starting with plugs, points & condenser, then coil, then stator, and then after I've replaced everything in the ignition system, I run a couple more races and the points go bad again, and I get fed up and buy a fully electronic ignition so that I don't have to remember how to fix archaic and expensive sh*t....
But that's just me.
