dude, i cant tell whether i should thank you or kill you. after our discussion about the front end, you said you turned it etc...i started to worry about the top bearing surface of the stem. my machinest hadnt done anything to it as of friday. i told him no big deal and id swing by early in the week. i went over there this a.m. to check on the the top of the stem. it looked ok but i really had no idea about the measurements. so with bearings in hand i went in and we began to measure things up. apparently, the top bearing surface of the stem is too small by .002. remember taking a file to it??? he claims too small for the bearing. so basically what i have here is useless to me. he claims he can dimple the stem and get it to work, but now im getting into some more $$$ and why not just get another? so, my quest continues. im either going to grind, press and fit another, or, just get another bottom. the problem with getting a new bottom is that if the offset is just 1 degree different, it wont work. (ive been through this with the 350 and 360.) so, i just wanted to say thanks, for nothin!

just kidding. i have a 450 front end that might work. i'll keep you posted.

some examples of prices i have found here.

cb 750 trees. usable.
75 bucks and an hour and half drive one way
motorcycle junk yard in dover, delaware, the place that advertises on ebay all of the time.

cb350/2 motor. no guarantee. buy it, if there is anything other than water and dirt inside, youre lucky. and no, you cant look at it first
100 bucks
baltimore cycle salvage
30 mins away

this is why i dont just go buy things. they suck down here and i am out of the motorcycle loop. although i have been offered a biker friendly job at a place that a certain other "daytona speed bump" works with another certain 350 honda lwsv racer works. i'll be there before late spring working hopefully and getting my share of spares. you have to realize also, if youre not riding a banshee or a cr125 around here, people for the most part dont know what the hell you are riding. i commented once that when i pulled up to the local motorcycle shop, and there is only one big one here, on my cl350, they looked at me like i was pulling up in a spaceship. i feel outta plca since my truck isnt jacked up or lowered down. i like the way my truck rides. so shoot me.

and dont you mean aromaha??

let the carnage begin.

i began step one of the stem tube grafting operation tonight. i removed the doner stem from the corpse and have it isolated for the time being. i am hoping to have the transplant completed late this week. pray it doesnt reject it.
