i have a 72 Triumph Daytona I have been thinking about turning into a racer. I have been looking at different oil set ups and have come up with two that seem to be the best.
1. Leaving on the stock oil tank, converting to a new pump (Morgo, I also hear just slapping on a bonny650 one works well), and mounting the radiator off the rear fender. Then mounting the oil cooler and twist off filter where the tool box (right side cover) is located. I don't know if the radiator would have problems getting junk thrown onto it from the rear wheel. It also seems like there would be a lot of hose running from radiator and all. I'd still need to get the seat off to fill oil. Plus is that I wouldn't have to fabricate a new oil tank.
2. I saw a website where the guy put the oil tank inside the gas tank. Was thinking of doing something similar; mounting both up top but keeping them separate. Then mounting the radiator where the oil tank used to be. The oil cooler and filter would be in the same place, and I'd have a new pump too. I sent the guy who did the other tanks an email asking him about the heat from the oil and have not heard back. plus is that I could get to each component on the bike separately.
I am new to all of this so if these are completely horrible ideas let me know.
