can i just swap cases from an sl 350 motor to cb internals? i want to use the stock cb gearing, crank and internals with the sl cases. anyone done it here?? before i start surgery?? any pros vs cons with oil etc???

I've heard the gear ratios are different, crank is different, head/cam is different. But I don't know if that means the stuff won't fit. I do know that Pete T. says the SL internals are unsuitable for racing...but you probably know that.

yeah, i found all that out already. i just need to know if the cluster will drop in. the sl gears are narrower. thats one reason they arent as good. i didnt know the crank was different. i want to use all cb internals in the sl case becasue i like the freekish case.

The SL crank is shorter on the alternator end as there is no electric starter. All other bearings are in the right place. I've got one in the CB case on one motor. The CB crank will be too long for an SL case unless the sidecover is bigger too o the charging side. I bought a SL awile ago that the seller had installed a CB motor into. All the mounting points were the same- he just took a file to the starter mounting hole for clearance.

cool, thats the kind of info i was looking for. so id have to use an sl crank too. which i dont think i want to do. thanks bill.
