NO! No way NO HOW...would I ever help some one find one.A gremlin is a good name because it belongs in the ground, not on it.You should get a pacer,or a valiant, maybe an allante or K car as well so they wouldnt get stolen or looked at or even recognized as transportation.
GOD ! MAN!, GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF.
How anyone can be atracted to the purposeful sharp well defined lines of a cafe styled bike.....and be looking for a slip of the pen, marketing guys souless design of that era among a few others.

I dont car if you envision it as a wet sub,a dragster shell or a chicken coup in your yard, or even to saw it in half, as a school play prop!It needs to rest and not be seen in public ever EVER again.
E V E R !

That aside ....No, I dont know of one .....

you know the "gremlin" might just be the ultimate chick magnet thing. i showed up to the first date with my now wife and got ton's of cred. for my caprice classic station wag. seems she was well aware of the correllation of more muscle bound cars with guys who needed to compensate for some inadaquicies. ("boy you have balls to show up for our first date driving that awful car"). you might just lol to the bank with a gremlin. just a thought.

had a buddy with a 383 chrysler powered gremmie AMX (and yes it was a swap, the original motor was a 304 amc). That thing hauled, we used to call it the sucker punch because 5.0 mustangs never knew what hit them.

we should have called her the slut, because she was ugly, smelled funny and all our friends got at least one free ride.

ahhhhh the halcyon days of the early 1990s.......

My GRANDMOTHER had a Gremlin in the early 70's. It was the cheapest new car she could buy, and boy was it a piece of crap. I guess we were an AMC family--my dad had a 69 Rambler that he later traded for a AMC Hornet Sport, auto, 6 cly, 2door with a racing strip. We loved it. My younger brother killed it. Earlier dad had Kaisers and a Henry J--the forerunner of AMC.

I'll be surprized if you can find an unrusted one.

By the way, my first car was a Studebaker Lark, 1960, driven in the fields when I was 15. I just saw one out for sale in front of a guys house this morning and thought, for about a millisecond, that it would be cool to have.

My best friend's dad worked for AMC, and was an incurable hot-rodder. He had put a 402 (I think, it was more than 25yrs ago) into a Gremlin, and I'm pretty sure he used to take it to the dragstrip. I think I recall 8 sec 1/8 mile. It looked pretty damn cool with aluminun slots on it. He sold it and built a Levi's cj7 Renegade for drag racing, with a 360 3spd and no front drive shaft. They were both street cars and I only got a ride in the Jeep a couple times. It was scary fast. There were a couple kids when I was in HS with gremlins sporting mag wheels. I always liked them in an "I'm so ugly I'm too cool for you" sort of way.

wrong gremlins are and never were cool now or then. Now an AMX was so ugly it was cool and as understated as one could get back then try to find on now .Matter of Fact the amx should not even be.mentioned as being in this class. with the gremlin, but a gremlin is on the list of disposable cars with k cars even the convertables, maybe especially the convertables.Pintos (early ones were cool )valiants all those school teacher cars need to go away .Dick head gym teachers had gremlins little old ladys had gremlins a few v8 hot rod gremlins dont make them cool. You can stuff a v8 into anything even that saab.
Now vegas and pintos come into cheap ass hot rod based cars but even then the AMX is so much cooler.studebaker hawks and thier sibling models were so ugly they were and still are cool same era cars and american.

I love Gremlins. When I was in junior high there was a guy in town that had an orange one with the factory black stripe down the pillar and side. He had huge tires on the rear w/Cragar SS wheels. Wheelwells cut open to clear them and Bondo fender flairs. Raised in the front as was the style. No idea what the motor was, but it looked cool going down the street.

Gremlins cool? NFW. they were plentiful short wheel base 2drs, that nobody wanted, hence dirt cheap. That one swallowed a 383 and Geet lived to tell the tale is more easily explained by the big sky theory than by any attribute in the gremlin ever had. Most of the ones in my neighborhood got chopped into modified dirt oval racers and got thrashed on Sat. nights (and none of them made it to the 80's forget the 90's)....as good a fate as any gremlin could hope for. If its gotta be early 70's make it a AMX/Javelin, in penske trans/am trim. bcr

one of the fundamentals of "cool" is not giving a fuck what anyone thinks, the fact you all hate them is a testament as to just how cool they are, or rather, how cool you are if you have the balls say F you all and to rock one.

My parents made the mistake of buying a '73 AMC Hornet to replace the '66 Ford Country Sedan that had seen enough of 5 boys. The Hornet was the worst new car we ever owned. Had the build quality of something assembled in prison. It was embarrassing to be in. Luckily it didn't last near as long as the Ford. I think my mom traded it in on a Rabbit, which was probably the second worst new car that we owned....

An interesting side note though on the Hornet/Gremlin design, AMC won an SAE design award for the outside door handles on those models. The first in the industry to be flush with the body of the car (I think). Lotus bought the rights to use them on their cars.

I guess you can polish a turd...

little hard on the gremmie and the K car ain'tcha bull? I remember when old timers used to say the same thing about Chevy II's, Novas, Falcons, and Valiants. Ever check the prices on any of those cars lately?

The K-car is the dodge dart of the 90's generation. There were soooooo many of them and you could have had a convertable one for super cheap (I bought a faux-wood paneled town and country convertable for $450 once in pristine condition). There is someone out there with a turbo reliant 2 door that rapes anything it comes across and it does it with the 4 cylinder turbo motor that powered the minivans in the 80's:

ok as a life time student of design,There are good designs and bad ones and ones that are simply wrong as they had the true designers tied up in the closet as the marketing guys and purse holders designed some crappy cars in those days and a gremlin is just one the K car is another, the convertable ones are worse...poor misguided people thinking they had a real classic.
Its a choice, I choose not to find the gremlin the least bit interesting with or without a V8.
The rest of you that like them, good well that is your choice. But please take all those other cars of that ilk with them as
Im happy not thinking about or seeing them again.
and no I still dont know anyone that has one.......
Geeto I see a Matadour in your future ..the smell of "Rich Corinthian Leather " is in the air....so maybe its a Cordoba
