If you find me a Chevy Monza, I'll find you a Gremlin. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Gremlins cool? NFW. they were plentiful short wheel base 2drs, that nobody wanted, hence dirt cheap. That one swallowed a 383 and Geet lived to tell the tale is more easily explained by the big sky theory than by any attribute in the gremlin ever had. Most of the ones in my neighborhood got chopped into modified dirt oval racers and got thrashed on Sat. nights (and none of them made it to the 80's forget the 90's) good a fate as any gremlin could hope for. If its gotta be early 70's make it a AMX/Javelin, in penske trans/am trim. bcr
Being a dirt track guy that may also add to my attraction to the Gremlin. One of the very first IMCA modifieds was Gremlin bodied and cool. As a kid I remember seeing pics of the east coast modifieds, old Troyer Mud Busses w/Gremlin bodies WFC.

a gremlin ......please there just isnt enough boob scotch...there really isnt......Damn the Mayan calander is running out, in what four years ......Ill save my boob scotch for that and move off this thread.
But if I find one .....Ill let you know......someone taze me bro!

Im so far behind ,that I think Im in first.
the only word fit to say in the same sentence as AMX is Javelin!!!

"Better a cruel truth than a comfortable delusion." -Edward Abbey
Back in the "Day" (circa 1976), two of the fastest cars in town were a V8 Vega owned by Billy (the midget) Desmute (yes he was a small person). And a SuperCharged AMX Javelin....complete with AMC engine.

I hate to say it...but I saw some pretty cool looking Gremlins back then.
amx javelin should be in the same market as barracudas, mustangs.chargers, scamps, camaros and the ilk.
Gremlins should be tazed...bro.

i'm with the bullman...
johnny..."cool" never did or will fit with "gremlin".
im siding with bransone. gremlins are just cool. my dad had an orange monza. also a roadrunner. mom had a 70's cuda. and a 71 camaro. dad worked at the local chevy dealer in shiping/receiving for about 6 months once. i remember going there and they were unloading cars, and pushes me into a monza spyder. i remember the sound of the rear tires spinning in the parking lot. i always wonder about what those nice cars go through ebfore the owners get them now. 20 miles on the clocks. thats just unloading it and driving it to its parking spot in the lot! i had a friend who used to tell people i had put like 5k on my fastback. at stoplights.

our neighbor had an 80 amx. she was dating a guy who had a delorean. which had been painted red. i never understood that. then a guy up the street had a detomaso pantera with a built 351. what a cool car.

Now you're harshing on K-cars?

I had one in college. Still lived with the folks and commuted to school, put 50,000 miles on that car in two years. It was fine because I had enough tunes in it to drown out the rattles.

The best ever with that car was one day I got lost in Des Moines. Pulled into a gas station for directions, there were two old boys standing by the door drinking coffee, shooting the shit. While I'm asking the clerk were I was I hear them in the background talking about my car. I'd gotten orange Works Replica stickers at the bike shop and put them on under all the Reliant emblems. So I had a "Works Replica Reliant". So I hear "Bob, that's one of them kit cars". And Bob's like, "Yea, can't even tell it's not a real one. How fast you suppose it'll go". Had to duck out a side door was laughing so hard.

in the' so ugly they are cool department'.Bugeye/frog eye sprites, any renault alpine, buick riviera's,alot of 60's fiat any abarth, chargers(although they are BIG),original mini's,checker taxicabs,60s fastback mustangs, aluminum body short wheel base bread trucks, volkswagon 50s and 60s single cab trucks.cb hondas with the black and chrome side tanks, early suzuki hornets ,saab sonetts and early saab wagons and passenger cars,Datsun 510,daimler 250 ,lancia stratos, that chick from dirty dancing before she fixed her nose,bi-planes,early alfa sports cars, and gt's,geodesic homes, eon flux well anything but a gremlin!

Im so far behind ,that I think Im in first.
saab wags and sonnets (both IIs and IIIs) were very cool. also ugly monzas actually had a successful racing career in the late 70s. saw them win the trans-am race at limerock in 77. (beating turbo 911s no less). so the amx. that's credebility. gremlins were just dumb. problem is the more railing and harshing goes on, the closer they get to being more than the mistake by the lake that they were. even k-cars were cool cause they were true to there intent. gremlins were sold as cute/sexy cars. ginger was sexy. marianne (i liked her best) was cute and sexy. mrs. howl...well you do the math.
