Hey all,

saw this on another site and I really want to do it:

So my question is does anybody here have first hand expirence with spraying the Alsa products or things like them? Does anybody know if I can run this stuff through an airbrush (iwata eclipse)? Or do I have to use a spray gun?

alternatives to alsa paints?

talk to me people - I wanna make the bling happen.

I'd think you'd be able to run it through an air brush unless it has large metal flake. Iwata makes a nice brush too. Might have to thin it a tad more than you would with a gun.

What is that stuff...some kind of multi-layer mirror finish paint? Looks like a silver base with tinted top coats.

The paint on that bike is cosmichrome:

basically it is a chrome paint that you apply like paint and then apply clear over, which you can tint with a candy color which the painter did in this case.

I was looking at the ALSA stuff which is basically the same stuff. They sell a kit for red candy over their mirrachrome which comes out looking like this:

from what I understand this stuff is pretty finikey when used with other paints and it very temp sensetive, and expensive to boot, so I was hoping there was someone local who could walk me through their use. I was thinking about buying the $200 kit and trying it on a small tank I have and if it came out nice then doing a whole bike.

It really looks like the hot wheels I used to play with as a kid (and still do) and I guess that is why I am so attracted to it despite it looking like a christmas ball on a helmet.
