I took off the moisture ridden covers on my forks and found semi-rusty forks. I used some never dull and an sos pad and got them looking prtty good. However, a week later I came back to the bike and founf the where i had polished had turned flat tan/green/brown/shit color. I wish they would have stayed polished! What am I doing wrong and can I fix this?

Rob,
The SOS pads polished off all the chrome, so now they will rust almost immediately. Plus SOS pads have a pretty caustic cleaner in them, any residue left on the metal will cause pretty rapid oxidation/corrosion.

Once the chrome has been polished or worn off, your only real option is to paint that area if you don't want it to keep rusting.
