Well I got my side stand issue sorted I think by lining up the "clamp on" stand just behind the broken stock tab to get the right angle. It looks like I can cut the clamp off and weld just the tab and stand part over the old one after a bit of grinding. Folds up nicely and won't hinder the exhaust. Need that done so I can get to paint. The paint on there now look as though it was done with the tail section attached. Would it not be better to separate the two and paint them individually? 1st ground up build so I'll be full of stupid questions. Any help appreciated. Cheers

Paint it separately and you'll get into the nooks and crannies, but practise putting it back together first. There's a bit of tension from the spring and you can soon scratch either part when trying to get the bolt or pin in. You can also get some grease onto the hinge point before assembly.

I flip the frame upside down and paint the underside and any hard to reach places where you have a hard time getting with the gun or hitting it with the hose. When it dries if you want put the stand on then paint the rest of the frame. Like painting the jambs and hard spots on a car before you paint the body. I set the frame on a low stand with castors, milk crates work also good.

mine was painted using channel to support the frame off the ground and up... I used center stand and pass, pedal eyes to fix thru bolts...
as a bare frame is fairly light you could hang it with nylon rope off a couple of eyelets in garage or carport ..
