I'm embarassed to even ask this question, but I figured someone here could set me straight.

I'm trying to turn an XJ650 streetbike into a racer. I did a track day with it and was dragging the pegs all over the place in just about every turn.

The answer, I thought, was to get a pair of rearsets. I posted here and got pointed towards Omars rearsets.

I've been talking to "Ed" from Omars and he keeps saying that the rearsets that are made for my bike simply mount in the same place as the current footpegs. So my question is What the hell's the point? Aren't rearsets meant to get the footpegs up higher on the bike? Am I out of my mind?

Thanks,
Peter

Not a stupid question if you're not familiar with rearsets. Generally, the rear sets use a plate that bolts to where your current pegs are attatched to. But that plate moves the mounting spot for the pegs, usually further up and rearward. Thats is why the sales rep is saying that it bolts to your factory mounting location.

I hope I explained that adequately.
