What the heck is wrong with our racing club? I don't feel we are liked much at NHIS. It looks like we will be able to race only 3 times at the home track, that SUCKS and Im sure alot of us dont want to travel 400-500 miles to race a couple of races and waste a crap load of time driving. The 2 Canadian events are cool and but where else are the going to find good events for us? I dont think the Club Representives are trying hard enough to get us more race dates. The track day events are getting out of hand, and are using up our time because they beat the USCRA Club out of track time because of MONEY..
IM PISSED, 3 events what a joke.

dude, eh, i drive 400-500 miles to race with you guys at louden. and ive only raced with the uscra. get a sack will ya. kinda kidding there. yeah it does suck big time. there is some other racing to be had though. part of the mentality with the new england crew is that they dont go to race anywhere else. the uscra is the only big vintage bike club that has a home track. just think about what it takes to be wera class champ or ahrma class champ. with races from mich to fla and from penn to california. come down, spend a weekend at summit point this year. or try the track out near pittsburg with ahrma in sept. you have to remember that the club is small and we dont make them alot of money. although the point of the track days seems valid. do they really make more on a track day for bikes than on a race weekend?? i know they probably do with the cars. i guess the good thing is that the track days are only one day, so they are a good filler. there is also a rumor circulating that this might be the last year for the race at gunstock. so if you ever thought of doing it, get your arses in gear! probably a good thing considereing the surface last year!

i think the track issue is something all of the clubs have been having to deal with in one way or another. well, with the exception of wera. they seem to race everywhere. im going to set all of your minds at ease though, im going to win powerball and build us a cool track and everyone can race for free. except for arron. well, ok aaron too. so get in your car, drive the 500 miles, hang out for a weekend and do some racing at a cool and real racetrack. come try a 4th or 5th gear sweeper after a 1/2 mile straight! its way cool. hell, you can even stay at my place. oh yeah, just a quick offer and note, anyone planning on doing daytona or north fla this year, i live 5 mins from 95 just north of baltimore. feel free to plan on stopping in or spending the night or whatever if need be. i'll get my info out as the race nears. see you all at summit.

You got good points Joe, Im just pissed at the fact that pretty soon if something isnt done the USCRA will be know more and thats going to be a shame. There are some real good people here and awsome history too.
I heard you were lookig for a V4 honda tachometer, I may have one for you , what year and bike?

chuck, i think if we lost anymore events at the actual track, it would really suck. as far as im concerned, only the good dates are left. i live for the gunstock fim race weekend combo and losing gunstock will really really suck. as much as its not an actual race, i really like the event. the vintage fest is also one of my favorites. then the championship is always a great stand alone. the may race is just a primer for most of us and usually sucks as far as attendance. (last year was one of the few good years i can remember. one year there were 4 of us on the 350 gp grid for that race!!!)plus, if you wad it up there, there is only a short period between that and june. there are alot of cool people involved. and yeah some great history with riders and bikes. driving 4-500 miles or more isnt fun no, but once you get there, its all worth while. believe me. spendin 2 days of commuting for 2 days of racing isnt great, but once the drive is over, all you remember is the energy and excitement. i also usually come up for the day before the event. just to get rested and settled. the track is quiet and you can actually get things done. i dont think the uscra will ever go away, i just think the club is going to have to start becomming a little more mobile. it'd also be nice to see wera/uscra do a combined event at summit. the drive realy isnt too bad. it can be done in about 9+ hours from nhis. ive spent 10+ getting to gstock. one of the problems with wera vintage is that they always piggy back with the modern side of the club. so any big event with us would leave them hanging in the cold. either that or we have to share with the moderns again. and wera does on and off races. 3 or 4 moderns, 3 or 4 vintage. the entire day goes like that. kinda crappy in my opinion. i much better like the moderns one day, vintage the next. itd also be cool to see a wer-cra cup. like the old amcan races. for certain races a team points event. us against them. anyway, yeah, im still looking for a v65 v45 tach for my race bike. if youve got one kicking around, itd be cool to have. or if you have a line on one. let me know what you want for it. as long as its the model that redlines after 10k. they did one that redlines at 9500, that would probably be fine too. i think that was on the v35 750's. they are the electronic tachos. the v4 has a wasted spark, so its in essence a 2 cyl tach.

its got 3 wires. one to ground, then the others just plug into the ignition. points or in my case pickups. its pretty simple. its a hell of alot cheaper than a schitso, and will probably work right off. it wont require charging either. i know other guys use em. and threy are nice for high performance bikes because they made the sabre tach with a 12.5 redline. i dont think alot of guys are revving ast that on the cb350's. mine craps out around 9k.

Hey Joe - and others,
It all comes down to money.
We lost Memorial Day race because a Car club put up something like $22K to rent NHIS for 4 days.
NHIS is a business, and like all businesses, they want to make money (granted they probably make enough in the 2 NASCAR races to make all the payments for the year....)but Ted would probably lose his job if he told the car club no.
Track days usually are during the week, not on weekends.
You also have to remember that USCRA is not a "club" like ARHMA or WERA with a board of directors, etc.
It is owned by Bob Coy.
No one else has a say in the matter at all about renting other facilities or spending the money. Yes we can make our voices heard, but it all comes down to Bob. (and starting another race club is not a good idea...)
As far as owing a track goes - I think that it is a very good idea, and the issues that the naysayers keep mentioning can be overcome, it really comes down to finding the guy with the deep pockets to finance the thing (or having a lot of folks chip in just a few dollars). I think that Johnny B and Dugie have the right idea and attitude about the whole thing, and people just keep shooting them down.
Keep the faith and hang in there, we will find someplace to ride these things....even if they aren't 1/2 hour from where I live...

most of our races are now going to be monday races at the track. yeah, ok, fine, its a money thing, and im sure other people were displaced too, but in my business there is a thing called customer loyalty. the better i treat my customers, the better they will treat me. i dont think ted would like to have the bathrooms like they do after a lrrs weekend after one of our weekends. im not making a threat here. id imagine (hope) there were some other options discussed since weve been return business year after year after....those guys will probably hate the track anyway. doesnt pretty much everyone hate the road course?? i think if its treated the right way, it could end up being a good thing. i think most of the new england guys really need to get out and do a little more racing around. although i think we have the best club of all of them. the least serious bitching and the most friendly. at least from what ive seen. we seem to have the most fun. there are some great tracks out there. alot better than what nhis is offering. you just have to want it bad enough to do it. yeah driving 10 hours sucks ass, but like ive said before, you dont remember the drives, you only remember the friends fun and racing.

I agree with you here Joe, but I don't think that there is anything that we can do about it.
id imagine (hope) there were some other options discussed since weve been return business year after year after....
I was there when Ted came up to Bob C at Frontierland and told him that the track was taken for Memorial Day, there was no disicussion, Ted told Bob that the track had been rented. Bob wasn't too happy about it, but there was nothing that he could do about it.
those guys will probably hate the track anyway. doesnt pretty much everyone hate the road course??
Only the Nascar people :)
i think most of the new england guys really need to get out and do a little more racing around.
I hope to do some of that this season (well at least once anyways)although i think we have the best club of all of them. the least serious bitching and the most friendly. at least from what ive seen. we seem to have the most fun.
I agree with you here Joe, you are preaching to the choir...
there are some great tracks out there. alot better than what nhis is offering.
And more $$$$$$

pete, i really couldnt give too much of a crap what happens up there anymore. you can go race with wera and ahrma for about the same $$$, so when it comes do actually racing, there are plenty of options around for the same money. do you really need showers that nice. im not saying i want to live with pete t, but the facilities arent so great that id only race there because of them. if its too far is an excuse, its a lame one. i drive over 400 miles oneway to get to nhis. on a race weeknd, i'll rack up 1000 miles. my only point to chuck was that, yeah, it kinda sucks, especially for the locals who really enjoy the track, but get out and try someother things. since ive been racing and watching the uscra races, memorial weekend has been the uscras. thats been a total of about 7 years. i would have thought that some common sence would have been used. it would have been nice if he thought for a minute before going after the cash. that kind of stuff makes me want to kill. there are some other really great tracks out there and the uscra/nhis isnt the only fish in the sea. i wish i had a track with in 15 mins of my home like you. but id have to say it would be a great excuse to go other places too. there are alot of very very fast guys that run with other clubs. more on par with turk or smolinski or courts. once you have the bike built, and got the license, the hard part is done. ever since i started racing ive been dying to get to another venue. going around and around the same ole track gets boring. just like riding the same bike year after year. id say for most people involved, it the friends and comradirie of the event more than it's the actual track time. (do you really drive 9 hours to go around for a total of maybe 2 hours??) no you do it to do that some but really to hang with friends. i think the banquet is a perfect example of that.

as far as the track hating goes, i thought it was pretty much a consensus that the course basically sucks. 3 or 4 huge crappy bumps/transitions. the stupid turn 3. if they were to smooth, and im speaking hypothetically here since i know its probably as good as they can get it with what they have to work with, the t-2 area, the t-3 area t-10 and the final corner where we enter the speedway after the chicane, where i crashed last spring, that would eliminat alot of the crashes. the reason why those corners are so crash friendly is because of the terrain. no run off, bumpy raod, etc etc etc...now when you get into big hp, thats a different story all together. im talking under 75 to 85 hp max. then the frequent oiling the track gets since no one can agree on oil containment doesnt help either. the ama doesnt race there, no big deal, but most of the people ive talked to from down here hate the place. id say if you asked most people what they know about the track, theyd say turn 3. gee, i wonder why. not, the roller coaster is great fun. not the carusel is awesome, not the chicane is sweet, its about the crash corner. peole talk about the corners where the crashes happen. thats what sticks in thier minds about the track. and turn 9 is just scary if you get wide enuogh to nearly go off. ever see whats down there?? and they really cleaned it up after a couple of years ago. and i think that was mostly club people doing that. and even the nascar racers hate the place. now i dont know about the modifieds guys or the karters or any of them, it just seems like most people dont like the place. dont get me wrong here, im simple, i like it. i'll race almost anyplace, as long as my friends are there with me to hang out.

and i think the nascar people probably love the roadcourse, how the hell else would they get thier gynormous rvs up onto the top of that hill??!!

have a happy night

you can go race with wera and ahrma for about the same $$$,

I'll bet that Charlie Cole would disagree with that statement, but I could be wrong

if its too far is an excuse, its a lame one.

The only reason I'm not travelling to other tracks right now is time and money, hopefully once I finish school that will not be a reason anymore

my only point to chuck was that, yeah, it kinda sucks, especially for the locals who really enjoy the track,

The only part that sucks about it to me is fewer races...there have not been any to take the place of the ones that are gone....

since ive been racing and watching the uscra races, memorial weekend has been the uscras. thats been a total of about 7 years. i would have thought that some common sence would have been used. it would have been nice if he thought for a minute before going after the cash. that kind of stuff makes me want to kill.

Unfortunatly, Ted has to answer to the owners. If Ted gave us the weekend, then the owners found out that he had passed up the $$$, he probably would be fired....then we would really be up the creek, because the noise issues would kill us at NHIS forever.....

there are some other really great tracks out there and the uscra/nhis isnt the only fish in the sea.
True, but a very friendly fish.

i wish i had a track with in 15 mins of my home like you.

More like 1/2 hour .... <LOL>

there are alot of very very fast guys that run with other clubs. more on par with turk or smolinski or courts.

Yeah, but for those of use who can't run with them, we are in really deep in the other race clubs....

once you have the bike built, and got the license, the hard part is done.

Nahhhh, then you have to get really scary fast on it....
Our bikes are no slower than the one that Zach C runs, and the one that new kid that comes with Frank and Cathy Smith runs, the difference is the rider, so we need to go faster....

ever since i started racing ive been dying to get to another venue.

So what are you waiting for...

id say for most people involved, it the friends and comradirie of the event more than it's the actual track time.
i think the banquet is a perfect example of that.
Exactly, the friendships that are there in the USCRA are not always there in other clubs. At least no one purposely tries to (and sometimes succeeds) to take you out of a race/championship be coming across your front end in a high speed corner just because he thinks he has the line and you don't..

and turn 9 is just scary if you get wide enuogh to nearly go off. ever see whats down there??
Yep, a wall and lots of gravel.....

and i think the nascar people probably love the roadcourse, how the hell else would they get thier gynormous rvs up onto the top of that hill??!!

true, I just wish they wouldn't park on it...
