alchohol will negate the pain from a cracked rib at day #6. however, a broken clavical still requires narcotics...or when drinking, a fairly high tolerance for pain if one is prone to ineffecient motion.

That a pretty long Haiku for you Tim.
More like a Confucius Koan.
It must be the meds
meandering like the too high grasses
growing up in the summer sun
while the gardener is away.
Once the motor has started
all will be whipped
along with verse
cut again
to its proper pace.

Day 6???? You should be getting ready to take the bike out for a test ride.

Actually I thought the broken clavicle was the least painful I've had. At least the least painful broken bone. Did they give you the device that holds your shoulders back? I think that works a lot better than just a sling.

p.s. when you're off the strong stuff and the doc.s tell you to take ibubrofen, lay off the booze or your liver will end up like that of an eighty year old alcoholic. or skip the ibuprofen. it's over-rated anyway.
p.p.s i (we, if i may be so bold) feel your pain. hoping you feel better real quick. please keep us posted on your progress.

and ween yourself off the strong ones asap. then put the extras in your track box for a mishap at the track later. chris always has a stash of good stuff for track injuries in his box. you always sell them to branson.

its hard to answer the phone with the only good arm you have. especailly when that good arm is balancing a beer and a cig. either that or his wife wont let him talk to any of us anymore.

thanks guys-

the collarbone and ribs are coming along fine. i really haven't been using much of the meds. i've needed to work my ass off this week (i'm the only gardener on a 14 acre garden and we have one last big springtime event coming up next week)so i've had to juice up a little bit to get through the days, but i still have the majority of my perscription to trade with JB. mike, your right, the collarbone doesn't really hurt at all until i use it too much, then it's just kinda dull and quick and gone once i bring my arm back down...it's definetly the ribs that can kick my ass. the clavical was a pretty big break, just barely touching in the x-rays. i go for more pictures tuesday morning and if it hasn't begun to knit in really nice, we'll pin it together. bottom line is i'll be good for granite state.

rosko, i'll give you a call when you've had a chance to get back from sunday school.

I remember my doctor teling my that I should quit smoking cause I would heal faster...fat chance. But hopefully it's mending properly. I cracked my ribs last thanksgiving and I would say that was more annoying that the clavical. Couldn't get the full rotisserie experience when sleeping and every cough, sneeze and laugh was mild agony. Why am I being a Debbie Downer?

Anyway, I feel your pain. Hope you can lick it soon. Hell, if you are working next weekend let me know and I'll come up and pull weeds for you or something. Actually sounds fun.

Tylenol. Anything else (other than prescription) impedes bone healing. I think I got off lucky with just one bruised rib. I didn't even feel it for the first 4 days. I can't believe you're gardening, Tim. I can barely drive a keyboard and mouse.

Crappy place to break a rib...yeah excpect it to annoy you on and off for a year. I had a break right about there on the left side back in Nov. Just stopped bothering me a few weeks ago.

The freakin collar bone looks nasty, looks to me like it needs to be pinned in place. They heal a whole lot nicer when they are pinned.
