I give up0. I am going top upgrade the ignition. But I don't have a clue as to which one to buy. I see that several websites are selling the Vape. What are the other choice. Your recommendations are really appreciated.FYI, this RD has 1,150 original miles.

Could be wrong, but I thought Dynatek offered a kit to replace just the RD breaker points and that Vape (formerly Powerdynamo/MZB) company sells a kit to replace the entire RD charging system at roughly twice the cost.

Unfortunately, Dyna dropped that a couple of decades ago because two strokes tend to spit back when starting and then run backwards. And having made a few custom Dyna sets, I can tell you that can be awkward.

The trick with a simple system like that is to fit a second magnet in the rotor sufficiently far away from the main one that it prevents running in reverse. There are a couple of systems like that around.

Vape make excellent ignitions as do HPi.be in Belgium. More expensive that a Dyna but replaces the charging system with all new parts.
