Seems that the SR500 and the XS400 use the same rear master.. Yamaha parts stopped supplying this and the rebuild kit ..

Kit # 1u4-w0042-50 (available older interchange number?)
DIRECT FITAMENT:
77-79 xs400
78-79 sr500

mikessx.COM doesnt supply the kit nor any of the big parts houses I have tryed.. ( may have to start a yami dealer search tomarrow)

My rear master on the 500 is rebuildable so am looking for a kit or at the least the 2 internal pressure cups..

The cylinder is stamped 5/8 diam.. one is a typical flat cup, the other having a hole so to be installed midway on to the piston..

My final question.. any other bike's use the 5/8 diam cylinder that I can pilfer the needed cups?

It was mentioned on the sr500 and Thumper forums to buy a dodge 5/8 wheel cylinder and plifer the cups...

Most newer sportsbikes run 5/8 rear MC's. I don't know if you can swap the seals between them and what you have, but you might be able to just swap the whole MC if you can find one with the same spacing on the mounting holes.
