you can do a few reversable mods... bars and seat come to mind. easy to install and remove.
as for the bike being too tall, look into getting some aftermarket shocks setup for your weight. Also put a lighter (10 or even 7.5wt) fork oil in. Your suspension should sag 1/4 to 1/3 of it's travel under your static weight.
