This one has me a bit puzzled. I can't figure out exactly what it is. It is an Italian based bike. I found some info that shows it as a re-badged Garelli but someone also thought the engine is Moto Parilla.

Rex, Garelli, and Moto Parilla all used the same 125 cc 4 stroke in the mid 1960s (like around 1965). I think the parilla was called the wildcat scrambler and the Garelli was the KL125. It should be a pushrod engine IIRC. A buddy of mine had one in boxes in new orleans I thinkt he brand in america was "Rex Garelli" but I have seen them sometimes called just Rex or Just Garelli. By the mid 1960's I think Garelli and Parilla were the same company.

That is Def the Parilla/Garelli generator cover - you don't forget a graphic like that.

wish you were closer I would be interested.

On that note I would get it free and running slap some tires on it, leave it be and ride. It looks perfect right now.

That's the plan. I agree it does look perfect just the way it is.

Thanks Geeto. I had ran across that stuff as well but was trying to get a clearer picture.

what's up with the chick in the background?

So the bike had been sitting around all summer. Every once in a while I would squirt some of this Strong Arm penetrant into the plug hole and see if it turned a bit. A few days ago I got a little movement so I tore into it. The bore had a bit of rust in it but mostly in the bottom that wasn't actually in the area of piston travel but it did make it a bit hard to get the cylinder off the piston. One ring was either already broke or it broke in the process of getting the cylinder off. It was the top ring that was broken but piston had 4 rings so I cheated and just moved the second ring up to the top as they looked identical. I wasn't going to shell out any money for a ring set on this bike just yet. I gave the bore a quick hone and it cleaned up well. Set the valves. Cleaned up and set the points. Figured out the wiring a bit. Cleaned out the dellorto and gave it a few kicks. Hmm it runs. Now what. Its an ugly bike that nobody has heard of or really wants. I had to get it running though.

I know a guy looking for something like that, a little Italian four stroke. What do you need to get for it, and what would you figure for shipping to Bridgewater Mass?

Thanks,
Jack
