I have gotten a 1979 honda Twinstar and I'm rebuilding it from the ground up because it's a huge basket case but hey it was free. Anyway i want to put bigger rims and tires on it and i was just wondering what's the usual size rims used on most cafe bikes because the tires are really small on this thing and i want to put larger rims on it with a tall profile tire to make it sit a bit higher any suggestions on size of the rim and tire i should use.

bike rims are generally bike specific. it's not like cars where you just go buy something wider. has to work with the forks, brakes, spacing, etc. you can possibly fit something from another honda of the era.

also unlike cars, wider tyres makes bikes handle worse, generally. the look you are after is just a look. it's not good for performance.

I like the Aluminum rims myself.
On a 1979 honda Twinstar you don't have a lot of wheel options, you're going to run into clearance problems real fast.

The tires on it now are small because your bike produces what, maybe ~18 horsepower ?
