Whats the best way to put a seal on a freshly polished piece of steel, or any metal for that matter. By seal, I mean a coat of something to prevent oxidation.

I just finsihed polishing a lot of bits and I want to keep them polished.

Thanks

Clear coat.

For gunsmithing freshly polished barrels and such to be blued are coated with water soluable Hold. Washes off easy before the first bath in the tank and prevents oxidizing without chemicals that will screw up the process.

I suppose paint kinda undoes the idea of polished steel, thats what stainless is for.....
