from buff....ive been hearing about this bike on and off all summer. whos is it and i thought you might be interested. at least maybe someone here. someone should scoop it to keep buff off of it.

me

I have a bead on cb 175 converted to a 240 that will certainly blow the doors off any duc 250 and aermacchi 250. It is all but complete and has run already once. It will need minor work depending on how meticulous you are. Please email me at [email protected] if interested..... I may bust this thing out anyhow...

Well hopefully it's done better than the west coast 240cc big bore 175 I have in my shop right now. Thing is all kinds of goofy, freakin pistons come up above the deck height and they have to use a .080" head gasket to keep it from hitting the head.

However.. I have no doubt that a properly built 240cc 175 will blow the doors off any Duc....not so sure about Aermacchi though...at least not with Roper riding. I have no real problem keeping up with Ruffo on his Talabach 250 Duc...he's got a bit of power on me but not much. My bike will consistantly out power Roper's Aermacchi the first 1/4 of a straight...but those things have long legs and leave me behind after that. Bear in mind that with Roper riding his 250 is competitive with most 350's.

The third generation 175 Aaron and I are working on now should have no problem with the vast majority of 250 Ducs.

The 240cc engine I have on the drawing board to should be competitive with any 250 out there.

you should drop him a note and find out whats going to happen with it. buff has some fast stuff but isnt super mr r+d guy like you. the last couple of years hes broke quite a bit from what i hear, and his tz had more time being pushed than actually ridden last year. which is a shame, because its pretty.

To be honest with you I have no interest in what others have done with the 175's. And you always hear about these blazingly fast 175's but no one ever sees them at the track. Yes some quick ones but not these monsters I hear rumors about.

As yet...when the bike is right, I've yet to see ANY 175 in the East end of the US or Canada that can keep up with mine with my 200 lbs butt on it.
I've got my 23hp out of 200cc now, and I'll keep developing until I have 26hp out of a 200gp legal bike. I'll worry about these other bikes when I actually have one out run me.

No it's not an arrogance thing... it's about focus. I'm doing this the right way.... not the easy way. I really don't want to know if there are shortcuts to be taken. What others have done has no bearing on what I should be doing if I'm going to do things right. Unless I see a dyno sheet for every 175 I tear apart then I have no idea if what I'm looking at is rumor or fact.

But, thanks for letting me know anyway.

I've got one in my shop right now. From what I know it's done the same way everyone gets 240cc out of them. Kawi pistons etc. It's a crap job, pistons are wrong, compression is low. It's a cobbed together mess. A proper 240cc engine will definately scream, but you'd be talking custom pistons, crank balancing, the works.

Aaron will be on one eventually...and then the world will know the meaning of fast, and will tremble at the sound of our rockets and the silence of our submarines and... other Russian sounding stuff.
