So who has shortened cables for their clip-ons, and who is still running stock cables? We (as in I am overseeing it, but my girlfriend is building it for herself) are working on a '75 CB550 Four that is in need of new cables so I'm trying to figure out if there is a good place to have some made to fit the clip-ons, or if we should just stick with stock. Also, are there any cables off other bikes that will work as a cheaper alternative?

Thanks for your help. I will post some pics up later in another thread so you can see her new love...I hope it doesn't take my place.

You can get everything to build cables at the Flanders web site. Or, if you need them built, I know that Rice Paddy will build them for you. They're not cheap but they are good.

as a reformed bicycle racer/tailgate wrench, i'd suggest getting a good pair of housing cutters to anyone interested in doing their own cables. using normal cutters will crush the inner core, make irregular and sharp edges, and potential damage the cable once inserted. drimmel tools are also good at making nice, clean, thurough cuts.

check it:
