What's the deal with 'em?

Just style? Was there a purpose? Was it just "the thing to have"?

They are indeed a pain to find. Jay Straight of Britech is the only source I know of (which doesn't make him the only one, just the only one I know) that has shouldered rims. He's sells the Morad rims and they are a nice Akront replica. I run them on 2 of my bikes.
