I'm looking for a lower wattage headlamp for my CB350F. Most I see are 55 or 60 watts. I'd like to find something lower - hoping it will be less of a drain on my electrical system. Didn't alot of the old Brit bikes use a 35 watt lamp?
Any direction would be appreciated.

I gotta build a LED bulb for my SL70...the OEM bulb will drain a fully charged battery dead in about 20 seconds and takes about 10,000 rpm to make usable light.
Hmmm... I better check it and make sure it's not a 12v bulb in a 6v system.

what's wrong with changing out your signals and taillight for LEDs?
You're assuming I have and/or use turn signals. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
I've already switched out the 1157 tail light for a 1030(?) which draws less power. I've got a Luxeon on order which should only draw about 3 watts.
The headlight is, by far, the biggest draw though.
So...anyone know where I can get a 7 inch, 35 or 40 watt bulb?

Try www.candlepower.com
Use the numerical listing, there is a guide at the bottom of the page that you can use to identify the base and glass size, then scroll through till you find the wattage you need.

On a related note, I was wondering about the possibility of mounting a Brit style headlight bucket (with the voltage meter) on my CB350 project. Even if I didn't hook up the voltage meter, I think it would look cool. Would it be possible to hook it up? Would it produce a drain on the system?

wires is wires...you probably could get it hooked up and working no problem. As for the brit headlight shell, why not? I use CEV and hodaka headlights with integrated speedos all the time, you will need aftermarket headlight mounts but headlights always come down to mounting with a bolt.

i bought this light 130mm cev from cosmo for about $35 without a lens or bulb which was lower than his auctions usually go. the mini speedos and tachs you see everywhere fit perfectly in the recess. i also bought one on another site with lens for $28 for another bike it doesn't have the switch on the top or the indicator lights on it. no picts cause i'm still waiting for it to arrive.
