So I know I need a left side cover for my bike.... Now I am looking at EBAY and haev come across several.. Do I need a stator connected to it or am I able to order the cover and order a new stator at the same time?

I have done some research and have come across that a 1977-79 KZ650B covers are interchangeable wirg the KZ650D 78-79... Is this correct?

The cover is just that.. a cover.

Don't order a stator until you complete the tests I laid out in your other thread.
