When I ride my old 71 CB750 never a problem : no indicators, very loud (backfireing) pipe , taillight broken looks like a wreck but when a motorcop passes me they always give me thumbs up with a smile.
I am tonning a 81 gsx1100 into a caferacer (almost ready) but chopped the backside of the frame , round headlight, cafseat, nice black paintjob, and because i use it everyday to work on the highway i mounted some indicators (smallest i could find) for my own safety. (Instead of being passed i pass them!)
Except the wiring of this fucking indicators i finished last week but i thought:I have a spin round the block.
Got busted by a motorcop when i passed him , he had noticed my indicators didn't work!
After examining the bike he confiscated it for loud pipe ,no fender at the back (didn't know i have to have one)
I get it back after having it back in old original shape. Means no 4 in 1 exhaustsys? backfender at 3/4 over the tire (no frame to mount on)? Bigger indicators mounted at least 15 cm outside the frame? Replace my numberplate.
This is gonna take a while and lots of money and when its ready i have again just an ugley gsx.
snif-snif I'm fucked

i think the rule is: if the bike's got blinkers on there they've gotta work. so i just didn't put blinkers on. i'm gonna buy orange gloves so that people can see my hand signals better. oh, and they'll match my bike...i'm such a poser. oh yea, and go racing...no cops.

if its post 68, every vehicle has to have working t-signals. if it came with them, it has to have them. an older bike you dont have those kinds of problems with. LIke for example, my 70 scrambler. most cops cant tell what year bike it is by the gas tank. and if they could, all id have to do is switch tanks to get by on that point. something more modern will get alot of looks by the cops. especially a day llike yesterday and today. 60 out, middle of february. sunny. they know people dont have their shit together. no papers, etc...so theyre going to look at anyone riding something screwed up. ok, so heres one for you, do sidecar passengers typically have to wear a helmet too??

The Netherlands is in several ways one of the country's with most tolerant rules (and cops).
Indeed when i didn't have indicators there was never a problem: when mounted they have to work.
My CB had originally indicators but nobody cares if the are mounted, I think cops (aspecially motorcops) remember these bikes from there youth and are glad they still running (maybe their first girlfriend had one),how bad they even look/are.
my GSX was technical better, saver, more silenced but also faster, cooler and hotter than their orange/white straightahead boring BMW.
I think its envy..... <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Netherlands is the world capital of small bore racing. And has the best motorcycle race track in the world. Remind the cops that the country has a reputation to uphold as a place that loves motorcycles.

Much of my small Honda tuning information came from Ardjuna racing in the Netherlands....and I just ordered a DRP cylinder head for one of our race bikes from the Netherlands.
