just got back from an excellent weekend in the sun at summit point. first i'd like to thank david roper for being in new mexico. secondly i'd like to thank phast phil for not double bumping his bultaco into 500g.p.!

now that those thank you's are out of the way, some results....

aaron phinney show great fortitude in driving solo down to represent the cafetypes and race his cb175. unfortunately, he had a mechanical, four laps in the 250g.p. race and retired on the side of the front straight. he gave major props to me by waving fingers as i rode by four more times. aaron, thanks for the support.

scottish andrew (triumph twin rider), also dnf'ed the vintage three race with a ht lead problem which led to a one cylinder bike. i believe he was in third at the time.

the team incompleters were there in force with two nortons and a new aermacchi. the nortons finished both of their races while the aermacchi had some ignition problems and retired during the 500g.p. race after three laps.

steve d'angelo completed both of his races, had great scraps with lotsa faster bikes, and told some pretty funny jokes.

phast phil put on a clinic for all to see. his bultaco was turning consistant 1:35 laps, which is a roper time on his 250 aermacchi. dave is down to 1:30's on the 350 aermacchi.

i won the 500g.p. race, got passed by phil (who was in 250 class) and after one and a half laps never saw him or anybody. in the 350g.p. race phil passed me and all the traffic ahead of us in t1, then checked out to his second win of the day. i hung with the vintage two bikes, passing lots of them to score a second place. turned my fastest lap there 1:39, in four consecutive laps.

it was a super weekend with temps in the midseventies, clear skies, and lots of vintage bikes (our best turnout ever!).

sorry most of you missed it, but i realize that a four race series is taxing on all of your old bikes. ;)

While you fags were down there we road 200 miles at full throttle across pavement, dirt, and gravel. All the core members of the USCRA were there...so of course you guys weren't...but it's ok, no one missed you.
And we're all going to be in a magazine....but it won't be the HomoTimes that you guys subscribe too.

Aaron...what happened to the bike?

nice work. it sounds great. i'll get to a few of those next year, the reschedule killed it for me this time.

i'm guessing you didn't see the Rossi and friends race yesterday, but his bike mounted camera was exactly what i saw coming into you at T3. if Melandri had eyes in his ass like you do, Rossi may have taken the championship this weekend instead of building sand castles...... "I make mistake on brake"

The bike ran great, joes brake worked well, and Oldakowski didn't get me until the second lap. Turk was gone and I wasn't going to catch him anyway. My bike ran great but started acting strange like misfiring at random spots on the track but for the most part ran well. I was trying to keep Oldakowski in site but he was definately pulling away. While I was leaned over in the carosel and trying to make up time, my bike shut off. My crank snagged the wiring to my fancy crank triggered ignition and unpluged it. After figuring out what happened, I plugged it back in and finished to get my 7th place points. My lap times were almost 2 seconds faster then the last time I went and I have 2.5 less hp's. So the racing was great but my results sucked.

I'm coming after you boyee... Actually no sand baggin at Frontier.

Tuesday morning I get up early to overnight an exhaust valve to Manley, and an intake valve to Ferrea so they can make me copies. They say a week to ten days for turnaround. That should give me just enough time to get the engine back together if everything goes smoothly.

Funny how lap times go down pretty substantialy as you get used to a bike.

No mercy at Frontier Land.
