For me the 999 was the new sport bike when I was a kid. The 996 was nice to look out, but was outdated and old.
On the collector market it is about connection. The current generation of buyers has a strong connection with the 999.

Personally I think they have aged VERY well.
Ouch! I was a kid when the Z1 was the new sport bike.

I remember when the CB750/4 came out. That was the bike that I REALLY wanted, but it was too expensive for me. Held onto the 450 for around two years, worked two jobs and saved up enough to buy a used (and dropped) 750/4 for cash. For some reason, I just stuck with them for years before finding a Ducati 860GTe propped up beside a house of a mate. That bike began my Ducati love affair.

Been lazy in the shop. Mostly due to the weather being decent for riding, or relaxing in the pool.

This pile needs a new home. I have had my fun with it, but not using it enough to justify keeping it around. Would rather use the space and funds for something different.
PM for deets.

Did spend some time in the garage with the funny front end thing.
Had ordered the wrong cam cover gaskets, so that held up some progress. Belts are in, and adjusted. Valves were checked and confirmed to all be happy.
Now it is time to smash everything back together.

Knocked into a roller a lot faster than I thought it would!
Everything has been degreased, cleaned, shined, waxed, and talked dirt too at this point. Once everything is tight and in the proper spots I will try and get some proper glamor shots.
Really is cool to see all the little details on this bike.

Celebrated with a nice lunch.

Decided to take the SB8K on a nice long ride. Racked up over 5 hours bombing around the ADK. Sore, but worth it.

Stupid bike with the stupid front end is fighting me a bit.
Feels like the fuel injectors are cutting out. Unsure why. Could be vapor locking too. Need to tear back into it and make sure everything is located where it should be an properly functioning.

Did take it for a ride around the neighborhood. SO much different to anything I have ridden before.

Some tasteful nudes to enjoy

Been riding, working and generally having fun.

SB6R was picked up last night
DB4 left a couple of weeks ago
DB2 goes to BaT in the near future.

Tesi is still fighting me. Well I have just hoped things fixed themselves, and that failed.

Sending the injectors out to RC Engineering to get cleaned and flow matched.

Now that there is so much room for activities in the garage I will get the harness nicely routed.
Fingers crossed I can get some use in before it starts snowing.

Have you sold on BaT before?

There really is something wrong with me.
I dont supermoto, dont dirt, and have no reason to own this.
BUT I just had to have it.

Tesi is being a pain, but I also just have not made the time to actually focus on it.
Been mostly dealing with the drag/drive car.
Might sell the 999R and SB8K at this point.

Either way, I now have a Vertemati to trip over, drain resources and take up my time that I should be spending on other stuff.

Oh, you thought that the menthol powered death machine was the high water mark?

After freeing up some space and money I sat down and said "I should really get a fun car. Something for cars and coffee, the type of thing that would be more inclusive for my wife and young son".
I ended up buying a Dodge Dart.
Well something that kinda looks like a Dart.
But has a modern Hemi
and a turbo
and runs low 8 second quarters.

Yup, totally got my shit together.

Side note, kids really love cars with roll cages.

Hurt a valve late last year and apparently there is a shortage of Inconel.....So not going to have this car at SickWeek in a couple of weeks. Ill be down there with a buddy and his rig.

AAAANnNNNNNYYYYYYYYY way.

Ohlins is currently rebuilding the rear shock.
I have completely stripped down the bike for cleaning and service.
Spooned on some new tires last night.

Need to get some engine gaskets. One of the rings was stuck in the piston. No big deal. I wanted to see how the gear driven cam was set up anyway.
SOOOOOooooo cool.

I really should not have bought this thing. I really need to make space. The dart needs to come home for the season and I only have a single car garage. Was going to let the 999R and SB8K go but just can not bring myself to let them go. The wife said there was no chance I could put one in the living room. BUT I have a friend with a crane truck and might put it in the master. Can roll it out onto the back deck.....lol
