teighlor-

first, you rock... 'cause you have a the way cool, indicator of distinction, GH in the middle of your name.

supertrapps. yeah, i just mounted some on my CB350 racer (pipes made by chris marshall and supertapp adapters fabbed by JBranson, sponsored by tannermatic). i love 'em. but other guys here can say more and JB may be able to help you in extrodinary ways...just depends on how cute you are. obvious advantage in tuning exhaust flow, can help with dB regulations and seems like they'd be lighter than perforated steel cores packed with glass.

Teighlor,
They can be a bit loud for the street...but not REAL loud. Depends on how many disks you use. Typically fewer disks mean less noise more torque. More disks mean more noise, more top end power.

Adapting them to OEM pipes can be a pain. Lots of different options.

TT, thanks for the advice, and for kinda creepin me out......ugh.... yes, "teighlor" is kinda a gay way of spelling my name, but i assure you i am not.... my parents are from Ireland so they spell everything a pain in the ass....ANYWAY....

JohnnyB...thanks also for the advice and for NOT givin me the creeps.....yeah im just usin OEM pipes... what kinda rejetting issues are we talking? i dont want the thing too loud as i ride it all the time year round, but a little loud is fine, ya know, so people know yer there... I love parking that thing at "biker" bars against a row of shiny harleys with streamers......my jap bike is obviously cooler...

Teighlor,
If it's running nice and strong right now it's possible jetting could remain the same or more typically go up one size. On a 450 for street use I'd guess you'd start with about 5 4"disks on each side. Perhaps even four...these disks breath a lot more than you might think. 6 disks will start getting a bit loud.
When you install them, make sure the lips on the disks are facing the rear, and make sure you don't over tighten the screws and crush the disks together, that will close up the passages. Tight enough not to rattle and that's about it. Not a bad idea to drill and lock wire a few of the screws on each side even on a street bike.

Scott, do you have the "open" end caps or closed? Sometimes I think the open caps with disks are louder than straight pipes.

i have the closed end cap. that whole ordeal with being too loud was really my fault. i was warming up the bike before the riders meeting and annoying the guy who let us in the gates early.
