Hi guys novice chris here, I've just bought a 78 suzuki ts 185 2 stroke, which I'm going to build a cafe racer out of. Has anyone else done this? Photo's please? All advice welcome.

OH, to the OP, while you are building the Suzuki, keep thinking Bultaco Metralla. (You make have to google that.)

I had one, not cafe'd, a cherry stocker the original owner gave me. The fucking thing struggled to go 50 mph. I sold it to a buddy. Cdi box went out just riding down the street. There are none because they all go out. He finally found one like two years later.
What do you suppose my advice to you might be?

Surely I could just replace the Cdi with an aftermarket one? It's only an ignition coil after all?

Other then second gear being press fit onto the shaft, the TS185 is a near bulletproof motorcycle. I've owned 3, still have 1 plus plenty of spare parts.
Never had a Suzuki PEI (Pointless Electronic Ignition) fail on me, so I have no idea what they are talking about there.
BTW …I think the moderator has the ability to move a thread to the appropriate forum location without blowing it up.
