Just bought a T500 2LS front drum for my CB350 and it has the telltale hairlines. I'm looking to get it welded/prepped for racing in the Spring. Any help?

and you aren't worried that the places you didn't weld up will crack at some point? At some point where you are leaned over through a fast a corner?

I know a lot of guys run these and I thought I'd read that they can be welded to eliminate the possibility of catastrophic failure.

I've got a lot of aluminum welding hours, and welding a fatigued part is not a good solution at all... you're just restressing the material in different areas and, yeah, could be setting yourself up for a catastrophic failure at some point. It's the same reason planes have airframe hours, aluminum work hardens and will fail in time, the only fix is heat treating, and that's iffy
