NEVER!! I raced when the factory teams (Hailwood, Ivy, Agostini) rode ratty looking bikes cause they didn't care as long as they went fast. Back then most the CA guys didn't spend much time polishing.
Oh...I forgot Kurt Liebmann, who always had a pretty bike...and pretty women.

when lance weil was working for amol precision he raced for oscar. once up at mosport, he went out on the rennsport and oscar timed his practice laps. at the end of practice, lance looked at his times, and said, "well oscar, if you want to win this thing, i better ride my manx." oscar said, "bo (lance), when we get home, i put my head in the oven, right in the oven."

dude, thats ridiculous. wowie. you know, if they last, in 30 years, that stuffs gonna be up on ebay, going for like 200 bucks, and it'll be listed something like "rare, one off, caferacer tank. no markings. proffsionally made." then it'll have the usual list of makers that dont have anything to do with it, and some jackass, like me, or any one of us who is still alive will come across it and go, "yeah thats a tannermatic" some dude from hull used to make those in his spare time. blah blah blah.
