Okay, I am rebuilding the front end on wankermobile 3 and have another question. I need to order tapered steering stem bearings and found that CRC2 sells them for $44 + change. Any suggestions on where I can get a better deal?

Steering Damper?
Tim T. (El Constant Gardener) recommends the Daytona steering damper. Since, Tim has not steered me wrong in the past (pun completely intended), I suspect this is a fine product. Any other suggestions? I only ask since Tim sometimes is as squirrelly as "Rocky" (the squirrel) after digesting a bad batch of happy nuts.... (not really talking about his riding style)... But heck, I've known Tim for a long time and if you can't poke fun at your fellow wankers, then who can you poke fun at!

Note: I will be resting comfortably in a tree awaiting any responses.

Pete "Yell'er".

You can try www.pro-flo.com for the steering head bearings, they sell the AllBalls brand. However, I've found that my local dealers will give me the same deal or sometimes better and I avoid the shipping charge.
Don't know 'bout the damper.

I should never have doubted you Tim! How was "Dirt" Eastern States? I ordered the AllBalls from pro-flo yesterday. I didn't think about cuttin' out the middle man and going directly to AllBalls... next time.

Thanks All.

Alex - are you going to respond to tim's posting?

yeah, i've had shipping/stocking/communications probs with pro-flo too. just figured since pete got to start with a race preped bike, he should have to endure a hardship or two. hell, alex and i were like two complete losers fumbling around in the dark when we started. now only one of us is a complete loser, but we both still like to fumble around in the dark.

"AllBalls" is starting to take a different meaning in this thread. I think it was the picture of the squuuuuwerrrrrral. As Chevy Chase said in that cinema classic, Christmas Vacation - "Squirrel, I'm going in after it".

I'll start counting the days until Pro-flo delivers. Day 3</u>

actually, if proflo screws ya, or you ever need new bearings, the easiest thing is to find a good local (auto) parts shop and take the old bearings or measurements and get a good replacement. bearings are kinda universal and allballs are chinese, for what that's worth.

anyway, the next time you talk to alex, let him know that i miss him.

i thought the internal dim was a weirdo metric one that wasn't easy to get in a tapered setup. ill have to look through my stuff and see what i can find. and maybe ross knows.
