The Great Gig in the Sky Thread

With so many of the greatest musicians recently passing, I thought I'd start a common thread and get all the good memories in one place.

RIP Maurice White, founder of Earth, Wind and Fire.
This sound really makes me pine for the good old days of realistic expectations and minimal responsibility.

Only as devastating as you let it be..

Tell that to the over 220 names on that list.
220 names?
Please.. Maximization comes when the person who is doing such perceives these people that are no different than you or me as more than human.. Like put em on a pedestal... Everyone dies, it's part of the experience of life..

Exactly right. I just can't wrap my mind around the whole celebrity worship thing.
Thousands and thousands of people die, why should the famous ones have any effect on me?
This thread started as tribute to the old rock and roll artists who brought joy to ours lives for the last 50 years. it's not a worship thing per se. These great artists will no longer bring new joy to our lives. Look at all the awe inspiring current generation bands, NOT.

Again... Matter of perception..

Debbie Reynolds
Amazingly, she looked younger than her daughter.
And Piers Morgan is a piece of shit that should just go back home.
We don't want him back...... ever.
It's all a conspiracy.. Kinda like British people have bad teeth..

HEY!!!!!! I fucking resemble that remark....
Butch Trucks from the Allman Bros dead at 69.
Mary Tyler Moore, 80
Just saw that about Butch. Fighting demons. Damn shame.
RIP Bassist John Wetton (Asia, King Crimson, Uriah Heap, Roxy Music)

RIP Al Jarreau

One of the founding Fathers of Rock and Roll...Chuck Berry at 90.

And thus rock and roll passed from living memory and into to history.
They say if you had to name Rock and Roll something else, it would be Chuck Berry.

Keith Richards has a great story about Chuck Berry punching him in the face for touching Chuck's guitar. You really can't get more rock and roll being the guy who punched out Keith Richards.
