thinking outta the box

so why hasn't anyone (OK, insert d'oh here) thought of a front wheel drive modern motorcycle? I know it was done in the past (remember that thing with the engine in the front wheel)

Limitations? I woke up dreaming about this after reading the article about the reverse spinning disc on the front wheel.

Last year the AMA, in their infinite wisdom, banned 2 wheel drive motorcycles from competition in flattrack and TT. That was after a prototype 2wd Yamaha finished the Paris/Dakar race the previous year...
I guess the AMA was thinking that 2wd would be an unfair advantage. I wonder if they would ban it if it was driven by a 1340cc pushrod V-twin with the fuel tank in the frame?
