well, it really all depends on what youre going to be doing with your bike. street riding with an occasional high speed run through the twisties, riding it hard every day, racing or whatever, and you need to be completely honest with yourself about what youre going to do with the bike as buying a race tire for a street bike is only going to mean headaches later on. i run bridgestone sport touring tires on my 74 cb750, 120/90/18 in the rear and 90/90/19 in the front. DO NOT buy cheap tires as you really DO get what you pay for and tires are not hwere you want to try and save a few bucks

some people are like slinkies, basically useless but they still make me smile when i push them down the stairs

I really like my metzler Lazertechs on my 75 cb750. The front is a nice classic pattern, the rear a good sportbike style but still matches. this tire does it all. Had metzler ME77s before and I liked them a lot too. The only other tire I really liked as much were avon venoms and they are a little more agressive looking and not as classic.

A good cheaper tire are conti's

The Lazertechs work great on my BMW r100. They handle the weight and my semi-aggressive riding very well. I can scrap the valve covers and still have tire to spare....

avon venoms rule. lance and i put them on all of our laverda sfc and sf rebuilds no matter what they looked like as they are a fantastic tire. last rebuild he did was a 1971 cb750/4, and yep, we put new avon venoms on them too.

the metzler lazer is a great street tire. good in the rain. all the older bmw's come with them. i had the comp tires on my race ike the first season. it was great for a first year. it sucked in the rain.

I've always had good luck with Avons in the rain, but those were the vintage specific tires (am-20 / am-22 ). I've heard that the Metzler Z4's are horrible in the rain.

Not that I ride much in the rain.

worst drivers i've ever seen live right here in columbia SC, wouldnt catch me on the road on my bike in the rain lol.

I have BT45s, but I don't have enough miles on them yet to give a full report. I don't really care what they look like, either, as long as they stick well in the dry.

Ya, the Z4's suck when cold too. I think they've just about stopped making them. Good decision. I love the Avon Venoms as well. Great tire.

Continental Blitz = Cheap, good looking, slippery when wet (like Bon Jovi)

Cheng Shin = You get what you pay for

Dunlop K591 = Not bad

Avon Super Venoms = The Total Package (quite pricey tho')

I always thought Metzlers were kinda fugly
