Shite! Didn't think you American chaps were into café racers! Isn't it all "Hogs 'n' Sickles" over there? The scene is alive and kicking over here this side opf the pond.
Good site by the way, love the atmosphere around here.

wow. I wouldn't call em "café" racers. Cafe is fine. WOW. First guy from over the pond here at caferacer.net. COOL. Check out the photo section, and send us some of your best photos. Personally, i love the UK, but the pound is killing me. Everytime we go over a pint is like $8.00. Not like the good old days!!

Pictures!......sadly my current bike wouldn't sit pretty in the gallery. I've got a VTR thou Firestorm, I think they're marketed as Superhawks your side of the ditch. Tho the CB750 is coming along in leaps and bounds, just give me a bucket of money to throw at it, and a bit of tinkering time, and it should see the road sometime in the near future. Then its off to the Ace Cafe for some serious fun.

Ace,
Was over your way for a WSBK race at Donnington a few years back. Loved it, lots of bikes on the road in the UK, and lots of competent riders. Appeared to be very few of the t-shirt and shorts types that you see over here on sport bikes.
We like similar bikes...I have the VTR1000 SP-1.

Where in the UK are you?

"Where in the UK are you?"........County of Surrey south of Londinium. Not far from the coast....about 30 miles. Some lovely roads around the County for riding. Brands Hatch is about 40 mins away in Kent. Handy for the odd "track day" organized by a few companies.

England may have been a Green and Pleasant land at one time.....its a shithole now with a nannystate as a government. Petrol is almost a pound a litre which works out to about 4 quid a gallon!

"with a nannystate as a government" .....well...we are right on your heals going in the same direction.

Last time I was there we stayed in Kennsington in Loudon for 3 days, then rented a car a drove out to Salsbury, then to the west coast, up the coast to border with Scotland...across to the east, down to Donnington, back to Loudon. Most of the roads are in remarkable shape....over here either the heat, or the winter tends to mess up a lot of roads pretty quick.

Had a great moment up north. Climbed over a fence to walk along a section of Hadrian's Wall in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful, quiet, ancient...then an RAF Fighter comes over at about 600 mph at 200 feet and scares the crap right out of me.

I like the old days when the sun never set on the British Empire...they kicked a lot of ass :)

London!.........hate the place. Probably different if your looking thru tourist eyes, but for a native its an overpriced craphole. I work in London a fair bit and its costs around 5 quid an hour to park the car. Makes an 8 hour working day expensive.

The Empire may have kicked ass all those years ago, but now its returning to bite ours!

Ace,
I was surprised to find not many Brits in London. Kind of disappointing to go into a local pub and see a Pakistani tending bar. Nothing wrong with it...just you know...not what I pictured.

Did get a kick out of the dispatch riders and the lane splitting and general mayhem the bikes get away with in the city.

I say the US, the UK and the Aussies get together and take over the freakin world.

.........don't get me started on that! If the bloody government didn't hand out cash and homes to every Tom, Dick and every Rusky asylum seeker then you might actually see some brits in the place!

Don't mind those that do legit work to live, but when you think that we've Russian Mafia, Jamaican Yardies, ****** Triads and every other form of forign organized crime in the place it makes you wonder what the government is actually doing?

Dispatch riding......been there and done it when I was younger going through college. What a blast that was, getting paid to ride a bike like a nutter. Met some really good people doing that all those years ago and even keep in touch with a couple of them. Less traffic on the roads then tho and you didn't have to pay Red Ken Livingston (London's Mayor) to drive/ride in the city. Go into London now and they have whats called a Congestion Zone. Enter this zone and you get billed 8 quid for the pleasure!

Anyway enough bitching from me. Its 7;30 sunday morning here and I've got the day off, the sun is shining and the bike is fueled up. I'm off for a blast out to the west country with some mates.
