so it's exactly thirty days until the wera date at VIR. who's going?
i should remind all of you new englanders that still might be on the fence that this is wera's only vintage date there this year. miss it and you'll have to wait 365 more.

ALL OF YOUR VIR RACES ARE MINE, still funny!

my dad is moving to south carolina, near cmp around then. so i dont think so. i dont know what chris is doing. everything he has except for the 125 is blown up still. and the tz has a broken frame. so i dont know what hes doing. if i have to run my shitbox the way it was, i will. this working 12 hour days doesnt leave much energy to rip apart bikes. which sucks. and im slated to work all weekend too. the good thing is i have tons of work. so i'll keep busy. which means bills can get paid up. the bad thing is everything i have in the shop right now is either curved, or some crazy angled thing. or the stupid fence. i might just blow my brains out before i make it to march! god knows i wont have any mental abilities left if i dont. jb, if you havent raced there then you have no ground to stand on in regards to the subject. (sound familiar?? DOH!!) VIR rocks. aaron, you'll totally dig it man. bring an extra book, you'll need one for that straight on the 175. jb, tex and i were talking today about summit and you. i think you'll kick some ass there. you gotta come down for it this year. and we all run on the track at the same time, so it'll be kick ass fun.

there are vinatge races on sunday too. but nothing any of us older vintage guys are interested in. they run up to something like 89 model year vintage stuff. all of the races that youd think of as uscra classes pretty much run on saturday, maybe with the exception of f1 or p4 or something like that. and yes, vir is a wera race. what we usually do is leave the shop around 1030 or so friday night, then drive 5 hours. setup our gear til dawn, then register, practice, race, then party til we pass out saturday night. well, thats what some of us do. i like to get to the track before dark. but thats just me. its actually a pretty good schedule for those of us down here. head to the track friday, race saturday, party saturday night, then home on sunday. its all an easy trip from here. vir is about 5 hours. wera runs 3 grids simulataniously in vintage. usually lwsv (v1), 250, and 500gp run at the same time. so there are alot of similar bikes out there, and its alot of fun. so aaron and i get to race around when i run 500. d'angelo comes down usually too so hes out there with us. then olmstead, sometimes jeremy. wed like to get a good group of people to come down for the june race at summit and run there then haul up to louden for the fim race on monday. as well as trying to get a few wera guys to go to louden this year. well see about that. and since points are paid to wera guys for louden, it really does help. and as tex can tell you, every point helps in the end.

joe,

i got an idea. why don't you order what you need for your engine (springs, valves, etc...) and i'll come down to baltimore the week before vir (somewhere in between 3/7-3/11) and help you rebuild your motor. i'm off for spring break that week. my rider/proforma states that i require beer and breakfast for my services.

think about it.

tex

my dad has an awesome set off tools.....i think we can fix it!

johnny b, rob, everybody else too.....

think about coming down for summit point in april if not the vir date in march. as joe said it's combined classes. the conflicts are 250gp and 500gp as they run the same time. however, if you have a 250 or smaller you can run that race than bump up to the 350gp class. not to dig in on loudon (cause i love it!), but if you race a track like vir once you'll definatly want to come back. it's a freakin' country club!

joe, you need to start some shit on the wera bbs re: transponder rental for other clubs coming in. there is a thread i'll send you from the usgpru site (they are doing an event with wera this season) and stu aikencade got a deal (reduced price) for usgpru racers.

come on everybody, i know you want to race more than four times this year.

caio,

tex

p.s.- for the suicide/kamikazee run in june (summit, laconia, fim @ loudon) well i can't say the travel part is fun, but racing three days in a row in two different states will get you a merit badge and a beer in my pit.

Yeah... the transponder thing is another expense I could do without. Why the hell did they go to that system? What's the rental cost? $60?

BitchBitchBitch. I think VIR is a 14hour drive for me from NH. But it does look like a fun track. I have a RD350, so I imagine all my classes will be on saturday. Kindof hard to justify driving all that way for one day of racing. Is there a practice day on friday?

Of course, I could just go look at the Wera vintage website....

its definitely tough to justify. but the nice thing is its not on monday. so you really only have to take one day off from work, and you get to party saturday night and still be home to unload sunday. vir is a very nice place, the pits arent so great, but everything else is 1st class all the way. summit is old school but really fun.

you could run your rd350 in the clubman class on sunday also.
well I could also shove it up my ass... but then my ass would smell like a 2stroke.

My RD is legal for:
V5 (will get slaughtered)
V6 LW (will get slaughtered)
Formula 2Stroke (will get slaughtered)
F500 is the only class I have a chance in.
Clubman isn't listed on thier site in the rules.

That's more than I get with the USCRA (only MiddleWeight and F2). I'll probably make an WERA event this year. It'd be good to try a new track. I grew up with my dad racing with SCCA at Summit, so I know the track well. They didn't have any fences really anywhere back then. You could wander around down a trail and end up in a clearing 40' away from the track... 8) was cool as a little kid watching the SCCA Trans-Am series race there. That's when they were real trans-ams, not tube framed purpose built racecars.

f500 has some slow guys in it. the guy who was regional champ aaron and i used to chase around, and ive beat him. hes on a really worked r5. last year i hed to change my pants after i raced with him. i almost took this guy out in the carousel after he decided to come in on me as i was passing him on the inside. ive never come so close to crashing and not in my life. i dont know how i didnt. one cool thing is f500 and 350gp run together. so you could be out there lapping us too! aaron and i had a fun race the first time we were at summit with that guy on the r5. now hes a pest. and aaron and another guy last year were chasing me one weekend and aaron smashed into me at the entrance to the carousel after i hiot the brakes too early for the corner. the left before you get into it. the guy backed way off when he saw it. it was fun as hell though. that is one of the cool things about that track. all of the little places you can get to through the woods. i usualy have a scooter or pit bike just for that. and there isnt alot of serious fence there. you could easily get onto the track as a spectator i think.

if you have any more room in your ass, don't forget to put in v3, which is another legal class for rd350.

tex

clubman class rules should be on the www.wera.com site as it is a "modern/obsolete" class.

I'm hoping to go myself, but I'm a way newbie and my wing man is deep in his own schwazz (AP:)~ I have only raced at Loudon so this will be my first trip out of town and I'm looking at the wera site trying to figure out where my bikes would fit in. I have a 72 Cb 350f and a 71 honda cb350 (bought from Dave Evans). Any help ??

I have a f250 crewcab diesel (20mpgs:) and a trailer.. So if anyone is looking to car pool from Mass let me know.

the twin can run in v1, 350gp, and 500gp. if youve never been anywhere else, youre going to love and hate vir. its really hard, but really great. i dont know where the 350/4 runs. maybe v1?

cool, look for us, we'll have the mile of canopy, and the ghetto scooter rocking.
