I finally got the engine out today, I had everything else off, just no off time from work till today. I'm just waiting for my new head to come in. Heres some pictures:

Now since I have the bike apart I was thinking of painting it. I was planning on paint the engine black in F-style and repaint the frame while I'm at it. I was thinking semigloss the frame and engine and either leaving the rest of the bike flat black or painting in gloss black. Heres a picture of my bike all together to give you a idea what it looks like.

I would really like some input on this. Also how to I clean up the cases, I don't want them shiny but just new looking to go with the black engine

if you are going to do the engine black, make sure you don't paint the case screws. In fact I think it gives it a badass machine kinda look to have shiney silver (polished) screws on a black set of engine cases. I agree with tex PJ1 makes an awsome engine paint.

rustoleum makes a really nice black rattle can with metalflake in it. great for accents.

Personally I have never been one of those "all black bike" kinda guys. I think if you really want it to look funky, rustoleum makes a paint called smoke gray, which is about the same shade as grey primer but it is gloss and a topcoat. I think the bike would have a serious "I was built out of a junkyard" look with the frame painted this color. Plus it will hide the junk that invaribly gets into any spray can job.

I know lots of guys are fond of stripping the frame down to bare metal, but if you are just going to do a spray bomb, scuff the existing paint (to give good adhesion and make get rid of any loose flakes), address any rust spots, wipe the whole thing down with mineral spirits, and then use a "rust paint" like rustoleum "stops rust".

by the way, I am working on a new way to mount a tailiht to those F tail fins. I use a zx10 light and some lexan, should be a smooth look.

I'll come lay some lines on it if you want (old school style pinstriping). Jersey is not that far.

I've seen a few bare bones rat choppers lately with white frames and gray frames, a very utilitarian look. Makes the motor and the bodywork stand out.

Not from Joisey...from the other side of the river but I get there often enough (jersey has the closest operating racetrack).
FR- Etown is now the closest Dragstrip to where I live. Stilla 45 minute drive and the tech ruels even for a test and tune night are so restrictive that I don't drag race anymore. Westhampton used to let me ride in an armored jacked, jeans, and boots where as E-town wants a full fire retardant one piece racing suit. I runn a 500cc two stroke that mostly runs 11s, which is slower than most of the street ridden sport bikes that come in, but because mine was a dedicated drag rig I had to have it. E-town is just not bike friendly.

Psyco Diver 69 - becareful with simple green on aluminum. It can errode it if you leave it on to long. It is not really recommended for alloy parts, most degreasers tend to corrode aluminum, although I think they were coming out with an aluminum safe version.
rustoleum makes a really cool rattle can color called army green that with some orange or white pinstripes would make a badass accent. White scallops are good but I am partial to off beat colors. Yellow and black are usually a hot combo (90's magnas used to come yellow scallops over black).

One thing I saw that was totally different was a side racing stripe whose head was an arrow. It started on either side of the the tank and then the stripe ran the length of the bike and connected on top of the tail like a bumble bee stripe.

rattlecans are cheap so expirement. Also next tiem you are going to do black, use brightside polyuerathane singlstage and roll it on. Much more durable, self leveling, and hard as nails shine. $35 a gallon (enough to do a car) is a good bargain.
