Dave Evans crashed in T3 on an 88s and went to hospital, puntured lung. The cars spread oiil all over, it was sunny, it rained, it was sunny, it rained, it hailed on the way home.

JB crashed twice in 200 GP (and finished!!), Aaron took 1st. Frank C. crashed once.

Marcus took a first.

More anon.

2nd in singles. haha. there were only 2 bikes in the race. But that's all it takes. 8 were registered. 2 didn;t show, 2 had head gaskets blown, and two were out because of the rain.

JD's PVL never made it. JB and I worked on it for a few hours. to no avail. He'll supply details, I am sure.

It was an interesting weekend. Lots of crashes, oil and an almost brawl on Saturday with a nasty sidecar crash in Turn 3. Lots of cursing. Sunday's sidecar racing in the rain was a good show.
I crashed in turn 1a in Eurocup chasing Tim Courts for 4th. I Lost the rear end, I can only assume from oil in the car groove.??? Got it going again and finished like 13th or something. I saw Evans down face down in T3 and not moving. Scary shit.
Open GP went a little better for me getting my first top 3 finish. Bagged the Heavy weight supervintage race because of the slick conditions. The cars bailed out after the rain and dumping copious amounts of oil in the exits of Turn 2 and Turn 6.

Great weekend, none-the-less.

Yeah I had a good time. Great to see everyone. Worse part of the whole weekend was I caught a nasty cold. So far not a single sore spot from the two crashes. Nothing beats good race gear.

And yes Joe it does start getting funny the second time in one race...and to be honest if I'd crashed again and the bike would still go I would have still wanted to finish the race. It pays to put a little thought into crash protection when you put a bike together.

Aaron went to huge trouble to get Avons mounted on his bike for the rain. One of the few times I've seen an equipment change of that sort actually matter in vintage racing. He put on the right tires...he won, that's the way it's done, very professional move that paid off. I didn't believe some people about the Dunlops and the wet...I was wrong. Both times I went down it was immediately upon passing over the transition...first time in 9, second time in 2. And this is after BFD warned me that 2 was slick while we were on the grid.

The whole CafeRacer contingent is riding so much better each year, Scott looks like a different guy out there, Aaron has almost reached that wierd place of total confidence and knowledge on his 175. Sure wish this club had more two day events....if this had been a one day event I probably would have never raced because of the "funny noise" mystery, luckily we had time to sort it out.

Think I'm going to have to set up a pair of "rain wheels" for my 175. Aaron schooled me on tire choice.

Frank....how's the shoulder feeling? I think it was hurting a lot worse than you let on when I talked to you.

Hirko is coming back to race. Saturday night was my daughter's senior prom night so I wanted to stay home for that. It didn't make a lot of sense to drive up on Sunday morning for a single race, so I stayed home for the weekend. And her high school graduation is the same weekend as the AHRMA Beaver Run weekend, but I did find out that we've postponed her graduation party until the first weekend in July so I will probably go to the race early Saturday morning. Hope some of the Caferacer.net folks will make the trek out there.

My plan is to be back on the track for the Laconia weekend. See you guys then.

Hope everyone that fell this past weekend is feeling ok. Though it sounds like Dave Evans may have gotten the worse of it.

Yeah, it was hairy.. We had 3 crashes in the enduro. Only one was mine, but I finished with no rear brake, clutch or much of a gear shift lever left. Also got seriously spanked in 250GP. After the crashing, I never really felt comfortable throwing the bike around again. Wish I coulda' stayed for the 200 race. Oh well, next time...

Cheers, A.D.

JB,
The muscle I strained in my leg while picking up the bike after crashing hurts as much as the shoulder.
That Aaron character is going to cause you problems this year. He's riding way too good for me to chase.
My son finished 3rd in FCB on Pete's bike and it was misfiring for the last half of the race. He had visions of beating Rabbie...fat chance of that happening.
My CT1 is almost as fast as Johnnie Bravo's TA125 and it hasn't been modified much...yet. So watch out Johnnie! (But you were really fast in ULSV)

AD-

i've got wood for you, i mean you and Zack. i mean you recieved wood. but what i really mean is that i have your trophy for the endurance race...which i think i'll just keep for being your scoring-bitch, and the fact that you shouldn't get trophys for crashing....cause then my case would be full.

Matt,
I'll need a new seat....emailed you about it. It held up great for two crashes and even let me pound it back into shape and finish the race...but cosmetically it's kinda screwed now :)
Thanks bro,

Frank, yeah I saw in the results in FCB...that's impressive for riding Pete's bike. That bike is about as stock as they come.

yea........

very nice weekend, barring the rain. my 250 race ended in t6 when i passed camelhairy-throtle cable came off. it was a really cool inside pass, don't ya think frank?
the fireball 50 runs real good except i have to fix the shifter-kept popping out of gear and i was hoping that i would get lapped to end the misery!!
NOW the ulsv race, i am now riding a stock yamaha ta125 2 stroke. man what a difference from the ducati. I practiced a little on sat and sun and then raced. of course it was raining at the start of the race and i had no idea on what i was doing. Ever try to start off the line in a race with a 2 stroke? well let me tell ya, it aint like a ducati 250!!! finally got the bike off the line and everbody else was in t1. i put my head down and picked off everybody(including the rd's that were with us) and came in 3rd overall. It was a very exciting race and had a good tussle with Frank-I've had some of the best races with frank-he's safe and fun to mix it up with, hope your feeling Ok??

Aaron, congrats on a great performance you rode very good. it seems like you have the honda dialed in!!

It was fun pitting with the "wankers"

Gents,

It was nice hanging with all yall. Once again the Gods proceeded to let me down. Everytime I got the bike out on the track and ran the warmup lap or first lap my damn plug with pop out! After many rigamajig plates, screws, jb weld, etc it just failed! The last straw was when on the line for the LWSV race and heading to T3 I started feeling the shock of my life via the bars. But I should be ok and ready for June's race, and many thanks goes to JD for the cylinder head! Aaron for really trying to help.

Either way I tried but still had a good time.

Baker thanks for the clothes hanger :)

Just to make a little noise, I'd like to say it was nice to see everyone at the track. I had a blast doing my first LWSV race, though I'm not sure if I finished the last lap or not, since I was lapped by about 4 riders. I was having fun chasing the rider in front of me - I just forgot to get their name off the results sheet. If I can quit missing shifts, I *might* do better next time. I had a less reluctant start in the Formula CB race, but off-roading through T12 is a good way to buck the battery free from the bike and end your day. Note to self: Just because there isn't a cone there, does NOT mean it's good pavement. I've got lots to learn...when's the next Hawk day?
