What swingarm and hub will fit a CB350T from 1969?

Think this is my biggest change of getting a solution on my problem.

First of all, I have a CB350 twin from 1969.
I about to swap the fork on the 350 to a fork from a CB500 to get the front disc brake setup. On this 18" rim I know I can fit a 4.00 Firestone Vintage tire (have that setup on my CB500K3-77)

What I am now thinking about and cant figure out..... :confused::confused::confused:

I would like to have 16"x 3 rim in the rear with a 5.00 (at minimum a 4.50) Firestone tire. This is as I know a hard task due to the space in the stock swingarm. I know I might have to swap stock swingarm to another one.

  1. ??? But, which swingarms are a "clean swap" without any big modifications at the frame?
  2. ??? And if I switch stock swingarm to say one from a SL350 do I need to use the hub from SL350 to make it fit?
  3. ??? Or can I just extend the stock swingarm and then it will all fit with a 5.00 tire?
  4. ??? How how shall I finalize this?




As I said, I would like to be able to have that fat tire in rear with as little modifications on the frame as possible.

(I know the bike will handle worse. This is just for the look. I am a novice mechanic)

Had one older thread that handled some of this questions but didnt get the answers I needed, maybe due to poor english or misunderstandings.

First advice, most of the regulars on this site have interest in performance motorcycles, race modifications and restored classic motorcycles.
Firestone tires lol (aka Clown Shoes) most here will point and laugh.

Your problem doesn't stop at the swingarm, the rear sprocket has to line up with the countershaft, how much clearance do you have now between the chain and rear tire?
#3 extend the swingarm sounds like your easiest modification
or even better; buy a wider 17" diameter rim plus new spokes to suit, then re-lace the existing hub, that will give you a far better selection of performance tires and give you a little more clearance at the front of the swingarm.

Yes I know Firestone is crap! Why does people have to state that every time! I wrote I knew that!
Anyhow, thank you for your inputs TrailsRider. Gonna think about the option to extend the swingarm or buy a wider 17". I am still gonna use a vintage tire.

You DO NOT need a 4" tire on the front of this bike let alone a 4" firestone It will be almost unridable iven if it is just for the look you presumably want to ride it without dying?

Why? Because they are morons with absolutely no idea what a motorcycle is supposed to be or how it performs. Firestone tires are designed for bikes that are not run over about 10 mph and are not required to turn or stop. I get that some people like that look, but seriously dude, that bike is a shiny POS. Also known as garage art.

Most people on this forum are into improving performance and handling and to that audience, the bike you showed is a joke. It is the antithesis of a cafe racer.

For the same reasons people will always try to stop someone from eating a turd. I am sure the turd eater is fully aware of the ramifications of shoving feces in their mouth too but they do it anyway, and the sane rational people probably know this too but will still try to stop them because...well...for fucks sake man it's eating a turd. Stop Eating turds.
