Rather than contemplating our navels on the merits of late night posting, how about we kickstart this forum with some discussion of where y'all are from and local bike gatherings in your area.

I'll start first:

Although I have Lived in New Orleans and Rochester, New York City is where I was born, raised, and live now. Actually I live in Queens, which to describe metaphorically if the cuty of newyork were a woman's body, and manhattan were her left breast, then Queens is the armpit right next to it.

As for cafe racing bike stuff, NYC used to have a great motorcycling community and a cool brit bike scene in the 60's. Unfortunatly the people who live in new york ruined it and there is no real scene anymore, just nomadic clusters of men and machines, searching the endless electric light avenues for people to relate to.

If you are a hipster anywhere close to brooklyn, I recomend monday nigth bike night at Bar Matchless (557 Manhattan ave). Good folks ther, taped moto gp season, and year round bike season thanks to a bunch of gusy with BMWs and heated riding gear. The shop next door specalizes in old cafe bikes, mostly italian and british.

On Long Island, Nathan's in Oceanside is a pretty good car/bike mix. Local squids have kinda ruined it by bringing the heat, btu the cops really leave the old bikes alone (can't tell you how many times my cb750 has been waived through road blocks). Also on LI on friday is the bellmore car show at the bellmore train station. Not enough bikes show up but there are a few, there could be more. Still nice to get out and look at some cool old iron.

In manhattan, there is motor city, not really a bike night, but a cool muscle car and motorcycle themed bar. Sixth street specials is supposed to have a nice sunday ride out of their alphabet city local, and the ear cafe on spring street has a bike night on firdays (I think).

that's it for now....ok it's your turn.

OK,
From Princeton NJ, but moved to Essex VT 18 years ago, where to the best of my knowledge, there is no bike scene. No nomads, no cool clubs or drive-ins. Just the ubiquitous BMW and H-D dealer parking lot rides. No thanks.
Been racing flattrack for about 5-6 years, around New England and New York.
Was thinking I'd get the CB450 cafe/race bike project started this summer, but wound up racing flattrack again 'cause it was easier to just load up and go racing than to stare at the CB450 and wonder where to start. Now that it's almost winter I might at least start taking one of the 450 engines apart to see what I can see.
Also, gonna get out on the ice this winter with some buds, little road course, any dirtbike you got, 1 screw per stud on the front, 2 per stud on the rear tire. There are a few ponds and a big-ass lake up here, so no shortage of venues. In fact there's a river that freezes up that is really cool, lots of tight bends and short straights. If we get enough riders there'll be trophies, bonfire and beer.
Probably also gonna do the Middletown NY Indoor again in January, 'cause that's a cool scene.
That's some of it...

NY natvie all my life. Born and raised up in the barrio as we call it. Probably the only Dominican to ride a Triumph motorcycle and race vintage bikes, besides play baseball.

I frequent the EAR bar from time to time on Tuesday nights. Pretty cool scenes and nice non-harleys types but a heck of alot of beemers. I ride w/ my bud Timothy most of the time (some of you know him) other times I just ride. Most of my riding is done 70mile north of the city but it's worth the trip.

FR, I've been to the small indoor dirt (pavement)track you speak about. Cool stuff.

Well see ya around.

I live in the South Sandwich Islands....I was born and raised in the North Sandwich Islands...but my folks got tired of the cold weather so we moved. Besides...my mother is a hooker and there were much better pickings on the South Sandwich Islands...what with the tourist and all. No problem for my Dad...who was a third generation Sandwich maker..always in demand. I grew up a small brownish child running free and naked on the beaches, doing gymnastics and contortions to amuse the beach goers for the spare change they would throw. I'd save my pennies and once a week rent one of the Honda CT70's that vendors would lease out to tourist. Eventually I bought my own and would race up and down the beach in my loin cloth challenging all comers. Eventually my father got a job making Sandwiches for the crew at the Fermi National Particle Acclerator in Batavia IL. In the USA I recieved a lay education in nuclear physics and went on to design the Westinghouse S7W reactor core as used at the US Navy's Modifications and Additions to Reactor Facilities (MARF) prototype control tube reactor. I then did a short stint in Greece working with some linguist because I was one of only seven people in the world fluent in Minoan Linear B script ( a hobby). While there I took some trips to Italy and hooked up with a bad crowd and ended up doing some porn movies to help finance Red Brigrad terrorist plots.
And well...from there things started to get a little strange and I'd rather not talk about it.
Now I live in Upstate NY, I like motorcycles and pain killers ( a legacy left me by some of my misadventures), and I've had more body parts re-attached than most people have had colds. I don't sleep much, I suck the blood from small animals, and at 47 I can still chase down a buck deer in the deep snow and beat him to death with a tire iron (don't ask).
I don't smoke pot...much ( but if you have opium or hash we can talk), I drink very little, I crap twice a day, bee stings don't hurt me but black fly bites do, and I wear unusual underwear because the girls dig it.
