Hi Guys,
I have an old Honda CB400n that I want to turn into a caferacer.
One problem is related to the tank, that is not actually following the "pure rules" of the cafe racer design: the lower part ist not straight , so I'm convincing myself to replace it.
Any suggestion from your side?
Maybe someone of you already customized this model.
Thank youuu

Same problem.
did you read the thread?
Your bike doesn't have a problem unless you are trying to convince yourself it does. It was shaped like that to blend in with side panels so if it really bothers you even though it is completely behind your leg and nobody can even see it, just put side panels back on it and it will look right again.

I agree with the OP.

The tank doesn't really look right as it is. It's not about 'pure rules' but it is about aesthetics, and the bottom of the tank does not flow or follow the lines of the bike.

I would be inclined to replace the tank if it were my machine.

Edit: OP hasn't been here for a while - but here's an option that he could consider - retains the original tank and looks pretty good.

Hi, which triple clamp is that? I see it's different than stock and you are able to slide the forks through it. Thanks!
Very old thread but the top triple looks standard to me with different bars on.

Don't slide the stancions up through the triples though unless you know and understand the effects it will have on handling.

Very low rake numbers caused by this could be dangerous, although i will say the standard geometry will be pretty lazy i still wouldn't be dropping the front end.
