Hey Guys,

Since most of ya'll are in the North East, I was wondering if some of you could help me out. As some of you might know, I have volunteered to be the New York City Rep for the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club. I am trying to put together a booth for the New York Motorcycle Show in January and I might need to borrow a few bikes since the NYC chapter is still in its infancy (actually it's a zygote right now...infancy to come later). Since I am also trying to break the image of the VJMC being all about "restored" bikes I'm looking for race bikes, cafe bikes, choppers, rat bikes, anything interesting looking. Nothing is fixed in stone yet so I'll keep you posted, but for some of you trying to make a living at building cafe racers it might be a good way to get your website or what not out there. I think we may be restricted on selling items, but we will see on what occurs.

Our club (USCRA) did the show last year...after that I'm not sure if anyone wants to try it again. It went off well but was a huge pain for those involved I think. The club does have numerous members in the NYC area. There was all kinds of complications about moving items in and out of the Javits Center etc. Bring your wallet...a fat one. I think the clubs costs were in the area of $2-3000.

i live in Orange county and work in Manhattan and have a slow, ugly CB350 racer that might work and my buddy Alex has an even uglier, slower 350 "racer" that's been to two track days and two races but has yet to see the checkered, so it' may not qualify for display ...but his leathers are really hot.

holycrap! That was a good one Timothy!

How's the bummed leg?

I wouldn't mind participating but my only problem is that the Bike will be going into tear down mode by the end of this month. I'm swapping frames, and cleaning it up some.

Geet, Timothy can probably make it with his bike and I can definetly model my leathers on it for a small fee or cheap beer.

Thanks guys. I still have to hold my breath and see if they are going to give me the spot for free. If they have to pay for it I'm dead in the water because it is expensive. Supposedly the VJMC has some pull with the CW shows and at other venues they get the spot for free but they have never had a NYC rep before so they never had a spot at the Javitz center before. MY idea is to show a wide range of japanese bikes. I am bringing my t500 stocker, my cb550 chopper, and maybe my h1 streetfighter project but my bikes are nowhere near show bike pretty and three bikes won't cut it. I have a friend with some really nice restored h2s and I am going to see if I can get him to lend me his bikes. The show isn't until january so if the bike is apart you have time to put it back together.

alex,

maybe you should goto the show, and work on your bike there. tim could stand behind you and make motorcycle noises. that way you would feel like your at the track, working on your bike. ZA-ZING, BA-DA-BING!

i'll be here all week, make sure you try the roast beef!

Tex,

I like the sound of that. It'll be kool to hear Tim make some grumpy noise. Not that I haven't heard it before from in, but that's a whole other story.
