Getting back on track for a second. I was in a buddy's shop and there was a new bonneville that had some Von dutch style pinstripes in the Gulf light blue and orange. It was a black bike to start with and to me it didn't look as good as I was hoping it would have looked.
In the interem however, I did come up with a neat idea for using those colors on a white base plus some grafitti art style stencils. If my life eve returns to normal and I get a moment I will show y'all what I am talking about.
Yes I would ride a bike with Gulf colors. As you said it resembles a GT40. I would not ride it without the full race stickers though. I personally love the looks of a full decal race bike/car who give a crap what color it is as long as it goes fast.

I guess I'm not the first to think of painting my bike in the Gulf livery. I saw the second pic of Geetos one time and that sold me on it. I was obsessed with the 917 as a kid. Above is a painting I've been working on for awhile. I'm totally plagurizing another artist but since they never made print of it I decided to do my own on a 5'x4' canvas.
the other photo is obviously my other "project".
