Way cool! Definitely conjures up that Gulf GT40/917 mojo. Never a doubt in my mind it would come out lookin' great. Dig the liitle duck tail too, wonder how much down force it will generate over the ton. One thing though, is there some kid out there who's Schwinn won't stand up anymore, or was that an ebay find?
It's a great paint job but the colors are hard to tell what it looks like from these photos. Personally, too baby blue in real life. but it's a great bike regardless. Now get it on the track. And get that right side cover painted. sheesh.
It's freaking cold out and all I can think about is riding this thing. FWIW I saw a 917 run at summit point at a Brian Redman Vintage race a million years ago. Needless to say it was the badass machine at the event; walking the pits you could go right by the thing 'cause it was so low, but when they fired it up ...... just incredible. Made everything else sound like a farmall. Thanks for kind words. bcr
Bandit, I'm not sure what happened to the formatting, sorry for the hassle.
it appears several of us were racing toward the gulf livery. i love it. i'd be intertested in the numbers for the blue. the orange is great. both colors need to be deeper than "true" gulf shades on a bike. on a car, they look stellar, but scaled down to a tank and seat, i think they're just too washed out. you nailed it! cheers! cool bike!

I don't think these colors have numbers (but I'll ask). The batch was mixed and shot by Eric. He and Tim got beered up and surrounded themselves with 30-40 photos of GT40's and shot test runs on little plastic RC car bodies until they came up with what I got. I'm a suck ass photographer with a suck ass camera, the pics don't do it justice, in the flesh it rocks hard. Now the gold front end is bugging me and the rt side cover is ahh.....it could use a little love, it's gonna happen. As is a run at loudon. can't wait. cheers, bcr
What a great visual. Couple of beered up, mad scientist types, experimenting on on little car bodies, with 40 year old pics. of race cars plastered all over the place, making the shop look like the inside of John Nash's garage in a Beautiful Mind. Talk about suffering for your art. Wish I could've been there.
bcr, I don't have to tell you what a fine looking Cafed Thumper you've got going there. About everything I WAS going to say, has already been said! So, Let me at least say that I can only imagine that big cheesy grin you are gonna have on your face when you take that sucker for a spin! Enjoy, you deserve it!

sweet db. suppose pel is doing la mans this year? what a scene.
the bike has been getting some attention lately. frame is all prepped for powder coat. broke down the forks and triples (bailing on the gold) they're getting powder too. was working on an engine stand today. side covers are coming off and getting bead blasted and polished. small triumph news: fabbing up a really tasty tail light nacelle. made a buck and beat the sheit out some aluminum. fun. the composites course i'm taking starts monday, should be cool. hey, hoist a beer, I'm fourty phucking nine. cheers, bcr
I would embrace the gold, but that's just me. Pel's broke so no Euro travel for Him. How is the Triumph? Yeah, Chr*st, we're getting old. Phuck it. I'm thinking the first one to get an AARP card in the mail buys the first round. And yeah, forty years on pale blue and orange still Rocks. Happy Birthday!
