i was scoring at start/finish for that start. while rick didn't cross the line before the green, he was rolling before the start of the race. thats's a no-no. but the race sorted itself out with large-ish spaces between all the riders by the close of lap 8. i had a friendly discussion about the start with mr. snyder who "understood" the situation. there was no need for a meat ball because no net advantage was gained...he was riding all by himself at the end.
the best starter i've seen in our ranks was champy (who never jumped a start) who always beat most to turn one. i've come to the position that the killer start (and maybe killing my bike) won't effect the finish in our races. things seem to be decided later in the race and well established before the checkered flag. that being said, a bad start can be a big hurtle to overcome. back to jersey...she was super in that race and would have beaten all but the winner even with a bad start. wish i could see the vid. but my old mac can't handle it.
