Well, I've got to say that if I have mislead any of you guys I'm sorry. It was the seat that stopped me showing in May and since then no work have been done on assembly because I have just been stacked out with incoming repairs. Things are now lightening up so I will be back on assembly over the next week or so. I was just after getting the seat done as it was the original holder.

Here's how it is now. Its all ready for assembly and its been this way for months. Ill start unwrapping soon!

Had some time today to get this thing into a roller. I have to make some bushings for the rear shock thats why it's not in place yet. I went back and took a look again at the finish on the engine and I feel I can do better so there will again be a delay in updates while I deal with that.

I've got a box of fixings somewhere - maybe I'll locate that tomorrow.

It'd be fair to say its been a slow week at Kustom Choppers on the CX500 Cafe Racer build. But I did manage to get all three brake calipers stripped, serviced, painted and on the bike.

This may be too many pics but they just help to explain why I needed to make a tool today. The modified radiator has a new bottom outlet, so to keep the coolant hose on there secure I needed to make a bead around the top end of the tube. This is the tool I made and how it works. It was incredibly disappointing that when drilling one of the through holes on the tool for the ball bearings to sit in, the drill wandered a little and that gives the double ridge on the tube bead. I think that as it will be covered with a coolant hose all the time I'll live with it.

The dash is now done so I can now think about the other wiring on the bike. I'm going to use the NWT X21 management system, it works well with the hand controls and reduces the amount of wiring needed around the bike.

Hey RJ, I'm sorry, it's been a while. I've had so many customer bikes in I haven't had much of a chance to work on this for weeks. Here are some pics of where its at right now.

I hope to be back on it next week, I have made a start on the paint but nothing to photograph.

Damn, work has been intense. I have been so busy not had time to update here. So the bike is finished, just left it at The Bike Shed show in Tobacco Dock.

Sorry for being silenced since like November!

Dan Boy,

A really fantastic bike you built there! I am about to take on a cx500 cafe racer project but previously wanted to do a BMW K-Bike project. I see you have meshed the two, how fantastic!

Can I ask, how did you put the K-Bike rear onto the CX500? Certainly contemplating doing the same thing since I fell in love with the K1200 kind of starfish wheels. Is the whole swingarm from a K-Bike? How did you attach it to the frame?

Best,
Keven M
