or ;) maybe it's riding the stand up motorcycle over rocks and riding really modern expensive street motorcycles that makes me concern about frame flex and having done this motorcycle thing for 52 years, since a troll was a creature that exists only in the mythical forest and I was busy destroying motocross bikes
lol maybe that gives me a little insight into where motorcycle frames crack and shit breaks.

Where the hell was I? Oh yeah, I should
A: leave em?
B: cut em out and replace?
C: ??? Drill a relief?
D: part it out on ebay?
I think you have to first define what you are worried about before asking these questions.

Then ask whether those concerns are valid.

As far as I can gather, you are somehow concerned that welding the gussets in you somehow created some stress riser. Is that right?

Are you thinking of this?

Either way, I honestly do not believe it will make a difference. You have not suddenly created a weakened joint unless your welds are inadequate which is a whole different story.

the frame is fine you wont crack or break it solo riding on the street ,carry on
1/2'' for a rear axle ?trail rider is just tossing horseshit against the kittens nailed up on his garage door to see how much will stick to a flailing kitten
i am sure he meant 5/8'' because a very common radial bearing is mfg in that shaft size
i exagerate too, his kittens are proly dead before nailed up

He meant 13 mm but you're possibly correct that it could be as fat as 15mm which is approaching your 5/8" and either way it's the balls bearing race that will fail first,
and If his frame does ever develop cracks I bet they start within ~8 inches of the countershaft sprocket.
... or right next to where he welded something.

and what is all this shit about kittens nailed to a garage door :| are you on crack or something.
