We're back. and with another episode. I hope this appeases the forum gods as much as it pleases me.

I expect your full and vibrant feedback

Boring - you talk about a lady selling swords and you didn't film anything with her in it... I could duplicate all your episodes without leaving my driveway. All I need to do is film during different hours of the day and change my neck tats once in a while. Who would know the difference -

I really want to give you something you can use instead of just telling you you suck (cuz you don't "suck" per se) so here it is:

if your show feels like you could have filmed it anywhere with just a rear projection backdrop changing all the time then you don't really have a show.

I think you need to figure out what you really want it to be, what story you are trying to tell instead of letting the "action" (or lack there of) take you there. I know you keep saying this is reality TV and you want it to be "real" but real is fucking boring. It's like flying - hours of bordem punctuated by moments of sheer terror. If you wait for the moments to sheer terror to present themselves you may be waiting a long time and you may miss it on camera. I am not saying "manufacture" terror or excitement or actually anything watchible in this case, but there are things you can do while on the road. Think of it more as like a travel log for college age kids with no money.

One thing I learned from my road trips when I was younger (early 20s in the mid 1990s - so pre useable internet) is that every town has something interesting, something dangerous, and something locally specific. they all have mcdonalds and burger king too but I don't want to see their parking lots on TV. I also know most public librarys have internet for free and that you aren't just throwing darts at the map - you know where your next three towns are.

So here is my suggestion: for every town you visit you need to find:

- something interesting to visit (snake museum, largest ball of twine, abandoned amusment park, etc...)

- Something dangerous or dangerous looking (sky diving, base jumping, abandoned mine, spitting over the side of a tall damn, etc). You don't actually have to partake in the activity - you can just film people doing it and gab about it.

- Some bit of local culture. this could be the unhealithest sandwich you have ever seen, some really weird dude you have a conversation with (homeless people are the best for this) street musicians (when I was in asheville you could trip over them there were so many).

If you have this base expectation every destination then the boring stuff is watchible again because it gives a break. Add in the silly string and the gas siphoning and now you really have something. Heck you don't have to even use footage of all three from each stop so it is ok if you only get 2 out of three you still have something to work with.

congrats on getting a sponsor.

more adventure, less prone....

I watched 30 seconds, got bored, clicked ahead a couple of places, was still bored, came back here, typed about being bored. I guess I don't get it or something. If you had put a bike up on the center stand, revved up the rear wheel and jammed in a big salami ....I would have been entertained for a minute.

BTW - don't get us wrong - we really like you guys and I know some of us are driving from the rear seat BUT as one story said "suddenly he felt a cool breeze up his ass-less chaps only to realize he had sweatty balls from his over reeving engine..."

I have watched all of them and thought about it for a while now
So far this is what i hvae come up with

Its not a show about motorcycles at all, the mode of transportation offers almost nothing to the show other then a different platform to film from.
The show is not about the places that you have traveled to. Other then some shots of random couches and bars you dont seem to take much in at the places you go
Its not about man and old machine. The adventure moto is kinda lame as there is zero adventure. worst thing that has happened is you have run out of gas, or "snuck" some place to camp
The segments are to short to really tell a story or get attached to.
Not really sure what its about......

That's exactly what I did and how I feel.
Get a Go-Pro HD and 32gb card, helmet and/or bike mount then edit some riding
I've posted this before, it's silly but way more interesting

Looks like a good ride, crazypj. It always makes my head hurt to watch ride footage, though. The bike-mounted cams always tilt with the bike, which feels vertiginous and weird. And helmet cams tend to jerk around, and the point of view veers off in various directions unexpectedly. Has anyone mounted a bike cam on a gimbal?

what is the plot ?
what is the point your trying to achieve .... per episode or on a grand scale?
where do you get your information from ?
are you soliciting writers...? tech advice ? stories (as told by)?
Dont take this wrong just constructive critic: the format in its current incarnation REALLY needs some review by a focus group. If your audience is cafe racers, gear heads, moto enthusiast's you need solid content not drug store cowboy's . If you are wanting a general audience that is captivated by people in the show who are from a life style, I suggest a little more time in the trenchs. Maybe have your travels visit the guys in this forum and others. an interview and a ride.. maybe a silly prank or two.

Nick.....I haven't watched but one of your videos, however I've decided to adopt you, because I'm the advocate....ah just read the signature line. Figure out which one you are yet?

Go Pro and YouTube. It's spawned a generation of clowns filming everything they do on their bikes.

I've lost count of the number of heroes I've seen blatting around the back roads on their WR450's with the Go Pro taped to their helmet proudly standing up on their pegs so everyone can see how awesome they are.

They need to stop. Really, they do.

I would be interested to know what the demographics of these forums are. Because out of all the places I post our episodes this forum is the one place where I get almost entirely negative feedback. Everywhere else is 90/10 positive feedback.

#23 ·
Well most of our demo is 24-38 yr olds. gear heads and higher income. We get loads of positive feedback. I was just wondering why this board has so much negativity.

I'm ok with the feedback. This thread has been at the top spot all day in this section. Any press is good press.

As a matter of fact. Because you are by far the most vocal and opinionated group I interact with, I would encourage you to email me your address and I will mail you a free Adventure Prone sticker. That includes you Geeto, bmartin, bret etc etc.

you can reach the show here: ap@blackmariastudios.net

I've enjoyed the mindless fun of your show. The whole is a lot better then any one episode and have reccomended it to a few other places. I particularly enjoyed episode 13 but you would have to watch one or two before it to really appreciate it. What happend to repair fridays. And I do get tired of the gas station confessionals over what ever energy drink Ian can find. But what it comes down to is that these are a couple of puppies (everyone under 27 is a puppy) that are kissing responsibility good bye the way only puppies can. I'm old enough to know better. If I did that shit the way they did, I'd be arrested for being "a homeless guy that stole a motorcycle."

really now, how much feedback at all can you be getting? the highest viewed video that i saw in your profile was i think 14k views, and i believe that it is only because there is the word 'porn' in the video title. everything else i scrolled past was 2-4k+/-or-so-on-average views. i would say more than half of your views are people watching a minute or so into it, getting bored, and searching for whatever new stuff deadmau5 just released.

#26 ·
really you think that people watching this are "higher income"? why would you ever think that at all?

im 27

You have to cool shots, thats really about it.
Like i said its not about old bikes, or places that you go, or really anything to do with motorcycles.

Interested to hear where else you are posting
